What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I never get flu shots anymore. The one time I did, I felt like it gave me the flu. And then they turn around and say, well, this year's flu strain is a different one from the one the vaccine was for.

At least your crew wanted to keep you onsite to see how it took. Here you are invited to just walk into a drugstore, get jabbed, and walk out again. You can go to your doc, of course, but one drugstore offers the shots free, another bribes you with a $10 gift certificate ...

Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

I will @SaskiaKC
Thank you.
Next year, I will do thorough research before I have a flu jab. I will research this current year as well.
In a few days I will be filling in a yellow card/ticket, which you can do here on adverse effects of shots and medicines.

@gennepher and @Krystyna23040 I dont like the sound of this year’s flu shot. I have booked for me and OH in Oct at the pharmacy. Thought I would arrange it before 31st Oct just in case it runs out. I have a review coming up with the Dr before then re BP and statins. I have been recording BP twice daily in prep and it looks fine most of the time. Re statins in view of my leaky eye I am trying to research if statins would help with retinal vein occlusion. Might pose a question on a new thread. The next treatment to consider is a steroid injection in eye which would last about 6 months he said.
@Krystyna23040 many congrats you couldnt have done any better, literally!
Good morning @SaskiaKC can I ask what is Mr Coffee?
Thanks all for your good wishes btw.

Sorry to hear that PM however there is every chance of a positive outcome & it is important to be optimistic...I'm not sure about the ginger brothers I'm not going to Battersea until the 21st of next month & they are so handsome I expect them to be snapped up pretty quickly...Olivia & Georgie want to come & help choose so it has to be in their school holidays...whoever we pick will no doubt be happy to pose for some photos
Ah the ginger brothers...might have to go on and check them out! I think its a good idea to take your time despite the commitments of your special advisors. I have no doubt you will find a wonderful companion..or two!

Am.really late posting fbs which was 6. Two hours after breakfast 6.2 - so really weird that for the second day running there was no rise after breakfast - nor any meal.

Got my results for my Bone Health Qualification. A pass with 96 marks out of a possible 96 marks. Am so shocked as I truly believed that I wouldn't pass because it was so hard. Thank goodness that I don't need to do anymore exams.

Congratulations Krystyna it's always a worrying time sitting exams, there should be a prize for full marks, well done.

I did a general search on statins and retinal vein occlusion
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=s...ion.&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari

But as you say it might be a good idea to find people's more personal stories in a new thread.

Hugs for you for needing further treatment.

This flu jab is making my eyes very itchy as well as the rest of my skin. It is most uncomfortable. I hope it eases quickly.

Good to see you here DJC hope the shoulder has improved...the black cats features are not easily seen in their gallery photos...possibly part of the problem...that's why no decisions until after a visit for me.

This is a photo of daughter’s black cat taken moments after she’d brought their new Great Dane home. The expression on his face really makes me laugh - it’s saying ‘YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!’
Ps thanks, shoulder is a lot better now.

He is a handsome fellow! ^. .^ I love black cats. My Smokey was black, as were Dink Stover and Duesenberg.

... my own shoulder has been sore for a couple of days now. I'm thinking bursitis but I really have no idea what it's problem is ...

Thank you so much...that was kind of you. Mine is BRVO but he is trying to stop it spreading to the centre retina RVO. I know my doc will be keen to give me statins but I do wonder about how much they will raise BG. I suppose I could give them a go and change my mind later.

@PenguinMum Mr Coffee is a brand of coffee maker (sorry I should have said :sorry:). My new one is this model:

I still love my still-new stovetop percolator but I recently read that unfiltered coffee can raise LDL, whereas filtered coffee may not. Both pots are a pain to clean but I worried that if I kept nuking my mugs for instant coffee they might suddenly explode.

I feel so much sympathy for you with your eye exams. I need to go in for a diabetic retinopathy exam sometime next month, or so says my doctor. :( I like my doc but good grief, I have seen her more times since diabetes diagnosis than I saw any other doctors for any other problems since I lost my health coverage 20 years ago!

Is it possible for you to try again.
Thanks.

Thanks but you know the treatment isnt that pleasant but it is available to me free of charge so I appreciate that. I also appreciate this young Greek man who is giving his specialised knowledge to treat me...no doubt he has had to apply for settled status under the new rules. God help us all.

Hugs for the shoulder pain Saskia, it’s very frustrating when you don’t know the cause or how to fix it. Can you rest it properly for a couple of days?

@DJC3 thats funny...he is a beautiful fella probably quite a character I shouldnt wonder!

PM he rules like a lord of the manner in their house - all the dogs have to beg his permission to go out the back door into the garden, sometimes he turns his back on them just to prove his superiority, knowing they’ll all be shuffling around behind him, too timid to approach. He is very affectionate to the family and children though.
