What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

good evening all :)

4.3 this morning

over to mum's with sunday meal and then an hour cleaning windows and worktops before the visitors descend on her :)

Quite a pleasant looking evening now but it was chilly this morning :)

Hope your day is treating you kindly :)

@HarryBeau - ooer! not good. Glad it's (mostly) sorted now :)

@JohnEGreen - glad your son is ok and I think the shower glove sounds like a useful piece of kit ;) it makes you feel better to be able to have a shower and feel clean and warm.

@lindisfel - lovely dragonfly pic, there has been the very occasional one in mum's garden but not often :)

@gennepher - sounds like the quick sketch strategy is an interesting way of working, strong sketch :)

@dunelm - nice branches, you always manage to give your sketches a good strong graphic flow :)

art bit -

inspired by an image I saw on the net, original was quite a linear abstract tidescape I think (lost track of the reference :sorry:), not really my style but I thought I would give it a go. didn't notice the slight damage in the paper surface until I'd started painting, tried to turn it into part of the picture then tried to get rid of it - all in all not one of my most successful endeavours :hilarious:

Thank you @geefull - your painting reminds me of all those coloured sands on the Isle of Wight and glass lighthouses. Sky and horizon fabbo.

Had a lovely walk through the woodland at Oxburgh Hall this morning. Walking through woodland is so. relaxing. Norfolk was lovely in the hazy sunshine.

First day back at work tomorrow - it will be lovely to be teaching rather than spending hours on the computer.

Fbg 6.5

Looks like the sun may come out, and I want to get out there in the garden.
So, I gave myself 15 minutes to do a sketch in ZenBrush2, like @Muddy Cyclist does his quick and very effective watercolour plain air sketches. I was also thinking of @dunelm 's misty sort of sketch yesterday.

Set the timer, and began.

Having fun, then looked at timer. I need to get a move on...

All the while I am thinking of the candle I did yesterday in Procreate from the You Tube tutorial and the techniques and brush strokes involved, and the layers and purposes of them. And how I could apply all these to this quick sketch I am doing now, if I did it again in Procreate.

Popeye came over, put his paw on the iPad screen. I stroked him, saw that the timer said that's it, then it vibrated...

So, Snapseed then for frame and name.

I don't do preliminary sketches. I never have done. I just dive in to doing the finished painting. This is a new experience for me doing a quick sketch as a possible idea for a finished painting.

Nice quick sketch, free and easy, I look forward to the finished painting.

One cool morning a few days ago a Southern Hawker dragonfly tried to catch the sun in the garden at breakfast View attachment 43786 so I took a quick pict.

I find it amazing amongst all that chaos of the second law, coherent engineering design arises with a TV transmitter mast like lattice in the wings.
Amazing creatures, I like to sit and watch them hunting on the wing, quite incredible how they can snatch insects out of the air. Nice photo.

All good experience and I like the way the colours blend, the suggestion of hills or trees on the horizon and wet on wet sky technique, works well, nicely painted.

Good morning everyone from a day of unknowns in the dark and dangerous north

The wonder wheel of cold chicken and avocado with an over zealous splatter of sumac came in at 4.7 this am

Baking and shopping yesterday - but non necessarily in that order. Managed to fit in a couple of turns round the park at early o’clock. Video call with my pal who is in hospital in LA after falling from a ladder - broken ribs, bashed head and a mule kick to his spine - he is in a private hospital so I hope his insurance is OK. Anyhow, he seems to be in good spirits but his application for the position of circus acrobat has been refused.

Hope your Sunday is a good one, very quick sketch this morning as late up and off out after I have finished my koffy.

Quick and successful little sketch, can feel the energy of its production. Hug for your friend Ouch!

Whoops, missed posting this on Sunday. Started a painting of a hazy sunset late this evening, will finish it Monday. A4 watercolour....

5.3 this morning. Will walk dogs early as I leave for work before 9am. Back home at 10pm so a long day. Have got a nice long afternoon break.

Have learnt over the lockdown that I must take proper breaks and say no much more often and just not take on so many new clients. Hopefully I have really learnt that because it has been my new years resolution for 20 years - which I promptly broke by mid.January every year.

Wonderful to watch. According to those who do the studies, a dragonfly can predict the flight path of it’s prey which makes for a very successful predator.

Good Morning and 6 for me today.

Muddy Bike Ride today, well actually not so muddy, checking out a route which looks at the history of Cannock Chase. Tuesday I have promised to take two historian friends out on their E bikes (Electric power assisted cycles) could be hard work for me with just leg power.

Be adventurous and take control of the day. Keep safe.

Good morning everyone from a plant loving drizzly morning in the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel of chicken and chorizo lurking in the slow cooker, all snuggled up with some mixed peppers, onion and mushroom came in at 5.2 this am.

A double walk into town through the park yesterday. Firstly at supermarket opening o’clock for supplies and then, after a call from MIL, another trip to the supermarket for a few more supplies. A visit to MIL in her new apartment. After 25 years in her bungalow we were concerned that the move would upset her but not a bit of it. She loves the large, airy rooms, the extra bedroom and French doors opening onto a private communal garden but not so much the underfloor heating.

I started this sketch yesterday and had a fiddle about with it this morning. Not sure but I have decided not to change it.

Have a wonderful day, I shall be slurping on koffy and reading my book for a while.

Thank you @geefull for your compliments

I love your painting. That large expanse, taking you into the distance where the light is on the horizon. The horizon line of trees is very effective.

Wow, I absolutely love this stunning painting @dunelm Very mysterious, full of wonder, and evocative...

Fbg 6,6

I was awake in the night, couldn't get comfortable. So got up and spent 3 hours sorting the kitchen. Came back to bed, went to sleep for 3 hours.

I have lots of apples on the trees. I need to pick them before Mr/s Beetle//Wasp/Worm makes them their home (Just seen Mr and Mrs Crane fly over on their search for breakfast...it is only ever this pair of cranes that flies over), but I don't know what to do with the apples.

So here is my painting. It started in ZenBrush2, migrated to SketchClub for green leaf, then landed in Snapseed for the thin black frame.

Now I need a cuppa and a nap...

Good Morening Ladies and Gentlemen and if you're not, who cares, cruel yes I know, but it is Monday, not a lady or gentleman.

6.8 this morning. Not good, not bad for me and me's.

Not much to say about today, still lots going on and bench seats to design made from pallets, oh and a builders skip to raid.
Make yourselves a great day, plenty of material out there.

Morning...up earlyish waiting for a shopping delivery then a quick rush round to tidy still haven't tackled the blasted paperwork...not sure what kind of a day we'll have dull at the moment hoping for better...had a covid test at my local A+E on Bank Holiday Monday still no results...had no symptoms but anyone attending is routinely tested might be able to get a result at the anti-coagulant clinic tomorrow...woke to a 6.8...keep safe everyone.
