What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

12.7, retested other hand 10.7

Apart from a swig of cherry coke to help tablets go down (some brands of Metformin resemble miniature dishwasher tablets) I ate pretty well yesterday so didn't trust the first reading.

Unfortunately a combination of blunt lancet, scarred fingertips and clumsy aim of test strip towards blood drop meant I had to resort to both little fingers. It's true, they really do hurt more than the others :(

I have discovered a pimple on my chin which is such a rare occurrence these days I'm wondering if my week of extra high BGs may be hormonal.

Does anyone else find their lancets only last about a week? I keep hearing of people who only change theirs every year or even less often!
Blimey, I only use a lancet once.

Good morning everyone on another splendid start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north.
5.2 this a.m.

A full on day yesterday which included The Girl In The Bubble receiving her first swimming certificate and of course, a cloth badge and two exhausted grandparents.

Swimming baths this morning so I expect that the now ‘expert’ swimmer will be holding court even though the other three have been able to swim for several years - but they will be encouraging.

Art bit - a new ink - just a splodge to see the chlorophyl colour of it.

Hope your day is Friday. “Be satisfied with even the smallest step forward and regard the outcome as a small thing.”(Marcus Aurelius, Meditations.

Best make some koffy.

5.4 this morning.

Am not allowed in the office this morning. We only have 3 rooms with carpets in the whole house, the 2 guest bedrooms and the office plus the landing and stairs. Mr K has decided it is carpet cleaning morning so I am relaxing and reading with a coffee in the conservatory.

A late quick update, no FBG.
So, was picked up by family, this afternoon and spent a few hours in a nicely maintained garden with a younger woman, this woman was so glad to see me. This woman made me feel welcome.
This woman was coming to terms with the reasoning behind where she was. This woman couldn't wait to be back with the family. This woman asked me about my health and how I was doing.
This woman asked my granddaughter if she could look after her grandad.
This woman has certainly benefited from her time in this place.
This woman has definite plans after the escape is done.
This woman took me back to her bedroom. So I could tuck her in.
This woman was my Mrs L.
I am very happy that these things happened.
This woman still has major issues but it is not over. And it will not be easy.
as one of the carers has said, Mrs L has turned a corner.
and her mental health practitioner is so pleased with Mrs L.
Roll on the escape.
it is already arranged as a big family gathering.
and it is middle son's birthday tomorrow.
my best wishes to you lot as always.

The grandchildren were whisked away by their parents yesterday afternoon so a nice lazy day today.
Farmer’s Market is on so a wander into town to point at things and say, “how much?”
Packing - Mrs Miggins has been packing - we are going to Scotland for a few days on Monday. Will consult ChatGPT about things to see and where’s good to eat. Best get a bag down as some point today and load the pill sorter - the rest can wait until tomorrow afternoon.
No art today.
Hope your day works for you. I shall make koffy and think about what to add to my bucket list of things I don’t want to do before I die.

3.9...............and still no news on my HBa1C, will try phoning doctor's surgery on Monday, but they don't usually allow test results then. Fed up
