What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Complicated Chronicle Cat...testing strips on prescription are only available here for diabetic on medication that my cause a hypoglycaemic episode...generally it is not given to those using metformin or just diet & exercise to manage their diabetes...I did manage to get testing strips on prescription through a circuitous route which I covered in my last response...overall the systems seem cumbersome to say the least.

Us too...they are only covered if you qualify for the provincial program for *low income* residents (and then in limited degrees depending on whether you take insulin, meds or are diet only.) If your income is deemed to be too high, then no coverage at all. (The same applies to seniors over 65).

Funding here can also be quite cumbersome and we have more than our share of government bureaucracy. Some items and services are covered through a series of different government programs. (This is especially true if you are a person who is disabled as my late son was.)

Haha, the eat well plate put in an appearance. It wasn’t too bad, the lady that took it was switched on but generally toed the NHS/DiabetesUK line. She agreed testing was the only way to know what foods raised your BG even though many there had been advised not to test or to only check FBG. I’ve read reviews on here about DESMOND and I’m pretty sure Del is his twin brother.

Happy Friday all - 5.4 fbg this morning not bad given the three course meal I had late yesterday evening. My bgs have been a bit higher this week but I think worth it - I’ve loved all the large portions of Mediterranean vegetables especially the tomatoes which I normally restrict! I’ve also done a lot of hiking and swimming - talking of which more on agenda today only two days of hols left!
Wishing all a good day and hope sun out for all.

Good morning all. 6.0. Odd as I went to bed with a 4.2 (probably the lowest number I have seen ).
Bright and sunny here, but a cool 2 degC . Home gym again today, but may get in a walk later.
Back to hospital with Mum today. Will look into some alternative therapys to counter any possible side effects of the radation. There is quite range of treatments offered by the hospital.
Hope everyone is well. Your BG makes sense. Have a great day.

Hope all goes as well for your mum as that situation can ever go well. Really hope you find some helpful ways to counter the worst side effects.
