What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Hi @AlbertoLaidlaw, I'm fairly new to all this, and I'm no expert, but from what others have said on here the liver and muscles store glucose and will dump it into the blood stream when we need it, usually on waking. The morning fbg readings should reduce as you reduce your carb intake and use up your stored reserves of glucose.

I can't tell you what your daily carb intake should be. I don't count carbs myself and probably eat more than 150g of carbs per day. Others on here go for less than 50, 20 or even 10g per day. Less than 100g seems ok to me, but it depends on your body and physical activity I suppose.

My mom as a test kit, Ive not been told I'm diabetic but I have been feeling unwell lately, she did mine this am fasting and it was 11.2. Should I be concerned. Thanks

It's higher than a normal non diabetic reading, make.an appointment to see your GP.

Diagnosed 13 April 16: T2, no meds, HbA1c 53, FBG 12.6, Trigs 3.6, HDL .75, LDL 4.0, BP 169/95, weight 13st 8lbs, waist 34" (2012 - 17st 7lbs, waist 42").

2 June 16: FBG AV 4.6, Trigs 1.5, HDL 2.0, LDL 3.0, BP 120/72, weight 11st 11lbs, waist 30" (2012 - 17st 7lbs, waist 42").

Regime: 20g LCHF, run 1 mile each day, weekly intermittent fasting.

Can any one confirm these figures posted on the DB/uk website as they seem at odds with other information for instance 6% is not 42 just a bit confused any-who my latest info is Morning 6,2 now on 2xMet and my abc1 was 42 2 months ago.
  • Normal: Below 42 mmol/mol (6.0%)
  • Prediabetes: 42 to 47 mmol/mol (6.0 to 6.4%)
  • Diabetes: 48 mmol/mol (6.5% or over)
 
Hi @Mauser792 6% is an HbA1c of 42, or an mmol/L of 7.0. A mmol/L of 6.2 would be an HbA1c of 37 (Prediabetes range).
You are confusing mmol/L figures with percentage figures. This table gives the equivalent figures:
