What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good morning peeps hope your all well?
I have a question, as a newly diagnosed type 2 how often should i be testing my bloods? Was just given metformin to take and an appointment in a month to go back, no real information, my daughters boyfriend is type 1 so has helped a lot with info but wasnt sure about how often to test.
Thanks have a good day.

Hi Yvonnet its a good idea to test upon waking, before meals and 2 hours after the first bute. This should give you a good picturecof what your levels are like.

'morning all! I was a little apprehensive last night in deciding how much to reduce the Lantus so I decreased by only one unit to seven. Lo and behold, 5.1. I'm relieved if not happy!

I thought I was eating a low carb diet with being 40 or under carbs per meal. I have some kidney damage and so have to watch protein levels as well. I do like the looks of some of the recipes here. I was at 122 (5.8) this morning and actually slept well last night so I am happy today.
I test once a day, when I first wake up when I am feeling well. I even skip some days if everything is going well. I always test at least three mornings a week. If I have morning highs or I want to know how some food affected my blood sugar I test two hours after a meal. If my blood sugar is really running high or I exercise a lot I will test every 4 hours. My current doctor recommends that I test once every morning when I first wake up.

That sounds like a yummy sandwich! I will try it. I am going a little higher fat than I used to and am having better control generally.

Mom just asked me if we could go get some happy food-it seems I'm a little grouchy when my blood sugar is low.
