What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

[QUOTE="4ratbags, post: 1270621, member: 102832" Where abouts on the tips of.your fingers are you testing @Paul3613.
I've tried the sides & the tops I find the little fingers tend to bruise the most. Has anyone tried any different sites?[/QUOTE]

I try every finger at first but now avoid little finger and thumb because I find them very sensitive and painful. LOL the amount of holes on my fingers makes me wonder how long can thy survive my abuse.

Ask your Dr what type of Metformin she /he wants you to take,? When I was first diagnosed, 3yrs ago my Dr put me on one Metformin 5oomg XR (Extended Release) a day and it has really worked for me. My lowest reading has been 5.3 and my highest 6.7 I now have a 30 day average of 6.0, Both my Dr and I are very happy with the way things are going, it's not easy, it took me a while to accept how serious T2 Diabetes is, the earlier you get it under control the better. Good luck Paul..
My readings through the day are normally pretty high 15-20. I have found the only way I have low readings is if I don't eat at all during the day so maybe just nèed to be eating once per day. I'm on metformin mr 3x daily (2@night 1@morning) though it is playing havoc with my ibs which since they have upped dose is pretty uncontrollable. Yeah it's taken me a while to get my head around it and have realised how seriously I need to take it. Still I'm losing weight which is good . Just wish I wasn't so tired all the time.

Your body needs fuel throughout the day. By starving yourself you will make the sugar levels worse. Many here advocate the LCHF diet which is backed by scientific research to be extremely beneficial to diabetics here. There is information about the diet on the website or you can Google.

If you are losing weight it will be stored fat and eventually that can cause ketones which you don't want.

I can't remember if you are a new member, If so - Look at other new member posts here where the moderator, Daisy, posts general and useful advice for new members.

Your numbers are very high. You may need medication/stronger medication until your new LCHF diet starts working.
