What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thx for the reply and advice/ explanation. Forgot to mention the headaches . Spent yesterday taking paracetamol, which are fantastic at alleviating headache for ne.
Having said all that, it was still my own fault that readings were much higher today, as my dinner last night whilst being fine, I ruined with 2 slices of white bread and tend to spike of white bread is even spoken of, let alone eaten.
It happens, its life lol

Morning all, 5. 6 this morning and some really good news. I’ve been approved for Omnipod 5.

Although my control as a type 1 is deemed as excellent, normally in time range 95%. I eat a healthy balanced medium carb diet, but for me as soon as I move about with any IOB my levels begin to drop. No dawn phenomenon here! So exercise, physical work, even walking can be a challenge. Jelly babies and lift tabs are my friends and I don’t get in hypo situations.

My Endo’s seem to think the way forward is with just 1 type of insulin and and the ability to define smaller defined increments that I can pause, when I’m about to do something physical, hence Omnipod 5. Very excited this is finally happening.

Happy for you with your good news!

After 3 cracking days, then I throw in a stinky 10.2 this morning.
Have taken my last steroids, to help combat ulcerated legs and vasculitis.
So now hopefully i can lose some fat from my girth and get some weight off my aching feet.
Very dry mouth, stuffy nose and feeling a bit under the weather, seems to be a recurring theme every few days and I'mz@ sure 'it's related to Diabetes. Ahhh well, I'll make sure I'm back in single digits again tomorrow.
You know now that you CAN get those lower numbers, and you know how - a few weeks ago you had no real idea.
You’ve got this!
I can empathise about the leg ulcers, as I had to deal with my dad’s for years.

I am blaming infection and antibiotics for my results again today.
Overslept and was woken at 8:15 by being used as a trampoline by hungry cat.
Libre 5.7
Meter 6.3

Oddly Libre has twice notified of readings over 8.5 today, which means my meter would have been well over 9.
I have only had a stick of biltong.

Thx for the vote of confidence aylalake.
It all comes down to what rubbish I put in my mouth really. I am still learning, but am aware normal bread, pastries, pasta, cereal and other obvious high carb, or high sugar food, sends my Blood Glucose reading into the 20s mmol and takes time to recover.
If I leave that type of food out, the readings are manageable and safe......
I'm retraining my mind to what I can sensibly eat and had lots of tips from the community here, which is such a massive help.....

Hello mates,
At a couple of the other forums I've frequented there was a thread like this one where we all sorta checked in each day, with our first cup of coffee or tea, and reported our fasting or waking blood glucose level and some short comment about whether we're ok with it or if not - why not?...

It worked well as a sort of 'first thread to check' each morning and post to.

I'll start.

This morning was a 5.6mmol for me. That's about normal for me

What about you?
For years fasting 5 to 6. Then my meds changed by surgery and it creased to 9.9 to 11.3. they stopped 2x10mg gliclazide with 3 X 500mg Metformin a month ago and replaced with 1x10mg dapagliflozin and 2x500mg Metformin since increased to 3x500 Metformin. Reason being they wanted to reassess all on gliclazide.
Reported rise in fasting level and told by doctor that I shouldn't be testing, they would do nothing until after HBa1c test late January 24. Very rude about my testing and what they said to inaccuracy of prick testing.
Am very disturbed by response and worried and rise in glucose levels being caused by playing with meds.
Type 2 diabetes since 1985.

It would appear to me that the accuracy of the prick test is spot on perfect and Doctor advising you has passed.
Doctor is a Prick for sure.

7:40 am. Cold, wet and dreary - the weather, not me!
I am tickety boo with my results - back in the fives for the 2nd time ever.

Libre 5.7
Meter 5.5

I notice that the Libre frequently reads slightly higher than the meter for this early morning test. The rest of the day it is slightly lower. Anyone else experience this?

I gave my cat a fright when I guffawed at that comment! Brilliant!
