What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning!
5.7 today.
@Bcgirl I usually get up wash, 10 mins knee exercises go down stairs and then take BG - so, like you, about 15 mins actually rising but before eating. I understand that the monitors / tests have an error margin of 10-15% depending on make, so all readings are a ball park anyway.
I am happy to be advised differently.

Anyway, rain forecast and time to go food shopping
Have a good day

The industry error margin is up to 10-15%. It doesn't mean that every reading logged could be 10-15% out of kilter.
If in doubt, a control solution to test the functionality of your meter and test strips is available from your local pharmacy.

Recently, I purchased a monitor locally for a diabetic friend. When recorded under the same conditions, the results from the two kits, mine and hers, were within 0.1 mmols of each other.

Back to the stickies with FBG 6.6 this morning. A late test after a lie in as not working today and its wet and dark outside.

@Bcgirl I think generally its best to test as soon as you can after getting up because the longer you leave it the more time the body has to pump out stored sugar to get you going in the morning. Its the body’s idea of being super helpful!

With BG meters, unless its possible to calibrate them, they will all read slightly differently. Also it is possible to get a dud batch of test strips, I had one such a couple of months ago when I was consistently reading FBG in the high 7’s but which suddenly dropped back down to my more normal 6’s when I opened a new packet.. I think so long as you use the same meter its comparable.

thanks for all the responses to my question!
Ok, I tested upon waking…7.2. Blah. My pancreas is broken.
winter wonderland this morning after a few flurries yesterday dusted all the trees. It’s really beautiful.
mexico is two weeks away, the colder it gets here the more excited I am

Lurking and giving ratings so I will post. Fbg from 10.20 ish bloods yesterday was 5.5 (lab result) - fasted apart from tea with almond milk. I had been up about 4 hrs, driving and knew key scan results were available but still feel that's too high. Bg can be adversely affected by my meds hence part of the testing each month. @Bcgirl enjoy Mexico when you get there. @DEBBIESCOTT glad you are back in the gym.

Googled Morton's Fork:happy:

Well, that didn’t last long - back up in the 6s
Libre 6.1
CodeFree meter 6.7

I test literally the minute my feet hit the floor (Foot On The Floor FOTF). Any delay and my readings shoot up.

I do just the same, but make sure wash my hands thoroughly and dry.

After 3 cracking days, then I throw in a stinky 10.2 this morning.
Have taken my last steroids, to help combat ulcerated legs and vasculitis.
So now hopefully i can lose some fat from my girth and get some weight off my aching feet.
Very dry mouth, stuffy nose and feeling a bit under the weather, seems to be a recurring theme every few days and I'mz@ sure 'it's related to Diabetes. Ahhh well, I'll make sure I'm back in single digits again tomorrow.

The 10.2 is because you have been taking steroids and and are poorly x The dry mouth I had when my levels were high, the stuffy nose - like a sort of dry feeling but a mucous feeling like there was a lump of gunk at the back of my mouth/throat, sinus pain around the left eye and swollen just down from the bridge of the nose. For me definitely allergies and fresh cream was the culprit. I have drastically cut my migraine and cluster headaches down since I stopped having cream. I also get the same symptoms if I have certain sweeteners. I constantly felt like a cold was coming, darn allergies!

Thx for the reply and advice/ explanation. Forgot to mention the headaches . Spent yesterday taking paracetamol, which are fantastic at alleviating headache for ne.
Having said all that, it was still my own fault that readings were much higher today, as my dinner last night whilst being fine, I ruined with 2 slices of white bread and tend to spike of white bread is even spoken of, let alone eaten.
