Thank youHappy wedding anniversary @DEBBIESCOTT. You deserved blue skies and sunshine and a break from work for your special day.
That is what I mainly snack on .If hungry between meals @mojo37, hard cheese such as Cheddar and a stick of celery should be okay. Most of the lactose (milk sugar) is removed in the whey during cheese-making.
The residual lactose in cheese curd is metabolised during the early stages of ripening, mainly through the action of microbes, leaving you with a food that is mostly fat with some protein, carbohydrate is negligible.
Oh yes Desperate Dan's cow pie we are giving our age away now lol7.1 for me this morning.
To be expected as stayed with friends last few days and forgot to take my meter and strips. Unfortunately although good friends they have no understanding of diabetes and diet. Meals consist of pies, chips, mash, cereals, chocolate, biscuits and all the bad stuff. When try to politely explain need to keep diet a bit lighter the response is "just eat a little bit of everything." Sadly their version of "a little bit" is more like Desperate Dan's cow pie portions for those that can remember. I know people are trying to be kind in feeding me up but totally unaware of the real consequences.
Thankfully they had a dog who I could sneak titbits too so probably both our BS would have been in the red but at least the doggy helped me out a bit. I know I am going to pay but that is just a sad fact of diabetic life. Hopefully you all have better luck than me over the next few days.
