What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning all, 4.83 TGIF great morning. I had great food all my life with great friends. Lots of parties and beer or liquor. Diabetes is a food related disease. Now before going to parties I eat some food at home and then just taste some food at the party. Lots of my friends are not even alive now. Have a nice day all.

If hungry between meals @mojo37, hard cheese such as Cheddar and a stick of celery should be okay. Most of the lactose (milk sugar) is removed in the whey during cheese-making.

The residual lactose in cheese curd is metabolised during the early stages of ripening, mainly through the action of microbes, leaving you with a food that is mostly fat with some protein, carbohydrate is negligible.

To be expected as stayed with friends last few days and forgot to take my meter and strips. Unfortunately although good friends they have no understanding of diabetes and diet. Meals consist of pies, chips, mash, cereals, chocolate, biscuits and all the bad stuff. When try to politely explain need to keep diet a bit lighter the response is "just eat a little bit of everything." Sadly their version of "a little bit" is more like Desperate Dan's cow pie portions for those that can remember. I know people are trying to be kind in feeding me up but totally unaware of the real consequences.

Thankfully they had a dog who I could sneak titbits too so probably both our BS would have been in the red but at least the doggy helped me out a bit. I know I am going to pay but that is just a sad fact of diabetic life. Hopefully you all have better luck than me over the next few days.

6.2, this stubborn body! Dang, living through another heat warning…honestly it’s ugly. Luckily we have very little smoke this year….so far. A few more days of super heat before it gets only hot. Sadly the heat is drying up the water holes in the mountains…my very bad dog just chased a bear right outside our gate…it’s two in the afternoon, highly unusual bear behaviour. We have ponds out back and I think he just wanted some berries and a good swim. Since the dog didn’t return when hubby called her she is now in time out and very sad indeed.
