Hope you and hubby had a great anniversary and enjoyed the scones,Morning all. Not been here for a while cos away for my anniversary. And it was my husbands anniversary as well so he came along too.
Had far too much to eat, including the dreaded national trust scones. Didnt take meter with me, (just forgot it), but think I will make sure to take it next time we are away.
Yesterday I woke to 7.8.
Today it is 7.0. I have not had bgls so high for ages. The rest of my diet was fine, but I did eat a lot more than usual. I have found it amazing how much it alters when I have not really has far more carbs.
Hi Freema you will probably be able to answer my question if a slight increase of BG after a meal occasionally is ok or not.5.9 at 9:00
Hope you and hubby had a great anniversary and enjoyed the scones,
I'm finding it hard to take back a few carbs has well without it spiking a little more than I like but hopefully an occasional blip is ok. You'll soon be back to your usual BG readings, just think of it has an enjoyable anniversary and take care of BG now your home. K
Thanks KOT...just so annoying at the moment...had great control...then infection..so antibiotics... which sent my levels sky high...takes a while to get a good balance back...feeling optimistic today...fingers crossed.Good luck with it today. Will be thinking of you.
Sod it KOT...anniversary celebration...by nature only once a year...7 & 7.8 not so bad...relieved to hear you took your husband fo his anniversary (made me laugh so much)...slightly higher than you may like...however at least you know why...can redress that in the next day or so...can also be a number of other things not just a few extra carbs...no point in sweating on it...I am more relaxed now if I have a slight rise...and you survived the grandchildren...now that's a real accomplishmentMorning all. Love it when that happens...have a friend in a similar position...she used to refer to me as the Diabetes Police...now she is trying to make a few changes to her diet...weight...you clearly made a difference for your colleague...well done.Good morning all. My blood sugars today were 4.8.
Friends, I would just like to share something that happened to me yesterday. I met a colleague, who is a Type 2 on insulin. We had last talked sometime about 9 months or a half a year ago, when he asked about my weight loss and I told him that the reason for this was diabetes and subsequently going on a low-carb diet. Back then, I had a feeling he just wasn't interested.
Yesterday, when I walked by his classroom, he rushed towards me with a smile and reported that he had gone on a low-carb diet, lost 30 kg and that he had come of a insulin about 10 days later. He said his Hba1c is now better than it had ever been on insulin.
I really have to say these news made my day. Couldn't help smiling all day.
Happy belated birthday, @Ixarix. Hope you had a fun day in Toronto in spite of the appointment.
@dogslife -- hopefully they find that everything is fine. Am keeping my fingers crossed.
@Bubbsie -- hope you get the results you want. Good luck!
Hi Kentoldlady1We had a great time, thanks. But its a bit disappointing to see that I cannot manage even a few more carbs. I usually have very little, always under 50 and often around 30. Would be nice to be able to increase it a bit. But perhaps I can't do that.
Have you increased the carbs by much? And how high did the bgl go ?
Usually we should aim for no more than a 2-3mmols rise after eating...so you are within range...personally I don't believe a slight raise occasionally will do any great harm...it can also depend what you have with the carbs...what type of carbs you have...simple or complex...this diabetes game is a bit like snakes & ladders...you never know what will propel you up or down that ladder until you throw the dice...I wouldn't worry about it too much...still within range.Good morning everyone
BG yesterday was in 5s and low 6s all day, then had a small portion of carbs with my evening meal 5.4 before meal then 2 hours later it had gone to 8.9 a little more than the 2 range it should be,never sure if this is ok occasionally or not?
Before bed 5.6
This morning @ 6.35 BG 6.1
Can anyone say if occasionally BG raises a little more than 2 is ok or not?? K

ThankYou so much Bubbsie I totally agree with your interpretation of the diabetes game I feel at times I'm walking a tight rope and trying not to fall off. I wish you well Bubbsie your a little treasureKUsually we should aim for no more than a 2-3mmols rise after eating...so you are within range...personally I don't believe a slight raise occasionally will do any great harm...it can also depend what you have with the carbs...what type of carbs you have...simple or complex...this diabetes game is a bit like snakes & ladders...you never know what will propel you up or down that ladder until you throw the dice...I wouldn't worry about it too much...still within range.
Thank you Diabeticliberty I'm just looking for a little reassurance it's the not knowing that does me, I'm useless at helping myself,I can offer help to anyone that needs it just not myself. KGood control is about the long term objective. Marathon not sprint and all that malarkey. An upward blip while not well and on antibiotics while being bloody annoying and a bit demoralising is in the long term completely insignificant. Your control is excellent![]()
Absolute classic one liner. I actually fell of chair laughing at this![]()
Why thank you. As I see you as comedy gold ( love your posts, especially first thing in the morning!), I call that high praise.xx ( although to be absolutely honest I stole it from yes minister)
