Hi @Karen 8967
I've been to ask at pharmacy about these antibiotics and yes they can cause hypos so at least I know what's causing it, it just came on all of a sudden no warnings,I was just off to bed and sometimes test before I go. When I stood up to put my leg forward they felt like they would give out under me then I started shaking and my head was disoriented. May not have been has bad but Geoff had gone to work and David was out so on my own a bit scarey so i didn't eat anything I just went to bed. I'm fine now and so far I haven't had any other bad side effects but thank you for asking. Do hope you get some good advice from your consultant and take care of yourself.
PS Have you heard anything from Mr D, he signed in has a guest and just said goodbye from me. That was it I sent him a message in case he signed on again but not seen anything more. It's so Strange isn't it. Kathleen

Thanks, it was different, as a 7 year old the needle for the glass syringe was nearly as thick as my leg lol, you had to boil the syringe and needle for 20 minutes and use them quite a long time.
Owww...owww...made me wince just to think of it...must have been so difficult for you & your parents.

As i was young I just got on with it ,I did miss sweets and tomato sauce, my parents (rip) were brilliant , I did get some Mickey taking by some children which made me hide my condition but it made me be as good and sometimes better than anyone else in what I did.

Looks like you don,t need the metformin.
yes it seems to lately have done no difference .. I am so happy with that... hope my ezcema will disapear again too, it started when I began taking metformin... but I don´t know if it has come because of the substance I clean machines with at the fitness-center..

Ooo yikes! I completely understand that when it's in the 4's! My DN told me that 4's are fine as that is normal for a non diabetic but it can still make you feel icky. Take care of yourself today too hun x

@Rie26 Went to see pharmacists this afternoon to ask if this Antibiotics doxicycline can cause hypos and the answer is yes it can. Apparently it can happen in non diabetics has well ,So I will have to watch my levels before I go to bed but unsure what to eat if I need to. The medication leaflet says no dairy so no cream in a coffee perhaps people on here can suggest what I could have to eat to boost my level before bed if it happens again. This meds has so many do's and don'ts and so many side effects but it's better than having Lymes disease? K

@Bubbsie I have been to ask the advice of the pharmacist if the antibiotics could cause hypos and the short answer is yes it can even non diabetics can go hypo, so at least now I know I can perhaps make sure my BG is ok before bed. With this meds I cannot have dairy so no cream in a coffee, can you suggest what I could eat or drink has I don't keep much in way of sweet things in house so has not to be tempted. In a week moment? K

@karen8967 you are dead right it was the antibiotics I've been to pharmacist this afternoon and even non diabetics can go hypo on this meds, so I will have to watch my levels before bed but never having had a hypo before don't really know what I could have. I cannot have any dairy on these meds either their are so many Do's and Don'ts with it it's not real! But prefare this for Two weeks to a month to Lymes any Day! K

Ooo k you just be careful check your bloods b4 you go to bed and if you feel shaky hypos are not very pleasant especially if your not used to them thank god your only on antibiotics for two weeks they sound awful
i didnt see mr d post but hope he comes bk as he is sorely missed and not just cos he makes us laugh his advice is invaluable as well any way i wont ramble on but take good care of yourself and hopyou feel better soon

GG difficult to say what you should eat to avoid a hypo...not sure that is possible?...you may or may not have another...in the event of another episode...why not buy a small packet of something sweet...if you do need to use them...doubt the occasional spike while on the antibiotics would do you any long term damage...have something ready just in case...once you have finished the medication just throw them away...as said 4.3 would not usually be considered a hypo...but...any sudden drop in your BGs can give you the same symptoms...thankfully not too much longer to go...as for the coffee without cream/milk...have you thought of trying some almond milk...or soya milk?

Morning...another 4am wake up...absolutely freezing to the point where I am shivering...central heating full on...cat went out...too cold for him...he only lasted five minutes outside...don't blame him....coffee...coffee & more coffee needed...woke to a 5.1
