Things may be different for someone with Type 1. However, my endo explained to me that one reason why people with diabetes are more at risk of cardiovascular disease is the extreme rises and falls of blood glucose putting strain on the heart. I suspect these swings for someone with Type 1 coukd be greater than you see.If I have a choice between spikes & crashes or a fairly steady reading which is best.
Mars1bar, in my head, I tend to look on it like a car journey. If the choice is fast acceleration, then harsh braking, versus and steady ride, in know which I’d choose.I am pre diabetic having had pancreatic surgery. I currently have a CGM for a couple of weeks (Zoe study). If I have a choice between spikes & crashes or a fairly steady reading which is best. Assuming the average BG is the same.
Thanks
For me as a T2 I've always chosen to go for steady. A low carb way of eating suits me best, and I've set myself a pre and post meal target range and aim to keep within this, but occasional spikes may happen =- not always due to food though. If I have a choice between spikes & crashes or a fairly steady reading which is best. Assuming the average BG is the same.
