Would Homemade wholewheat puff/Shortcrust Pastry help?
This is possibly a silly Question, but I would like to ask people on here before I make it.
I'm just starting on the Journey, I enjoy cooking, so making food from scratch isn't a problem.
Hopefully it will be a better healthier option.
Is it worth it, does it make much difference?

wholegrains are more complex so should cause less of a spike. however i've found doesnt really make a big difference (overall) less of spike for longer period of time..

you could try prefix recipes with keto infront search google likes of "keto puff pastry" would lead to this recipe for puff pastry which is pretty decent

Morning grant
Thank you for replying.
I've spent the the last few days taking readings, checking Google, and it's opened our eyes what a minefield it is trying to keep your BG under control.
The sugar in pie fillings is mind-blowing, I've been making food for a few years now.
I will start looking for Keto recipes.

Thank you
Peter

just remember that some people handle different forms of carbs differently it could be worth time investing in the likes of a blood glucose monitor check just prior to meal, couple hours after. can also be amount of carbs overall if too much for body to handle alongside different times of day sometimes what couldnt handle in the morning could handle better by eg dinner time. eg if i eat 2 wheatabix first thing in the morning (which is 26g carbs) i go from around 5.1 to 11. the SAME meal at evening i would only go around 8.odds most likely due to being more active daytime so muscles can use glucose more effieciantly the morning muscles dont really move much during sleep.

I do lots of low carb baking but my body doesn't cope with any normal flour wholewheat or not! Low carb versions of baking ingredients are expensive but I'd recommend looking at the low carb gluten free flour from Panda Pantry called Panda Flour - it makes a lovely pastry, bread and with sweetener cakes. Following link is to their low carb flour pastry recipe.
