Now, I don't need to tell you this but I'm going to anyway. If, after taking the Lantus, you experience ANY of the symptoms you have previously listed, or even some new ones, don't faff about getting in the car, dial 999.

I know less than you about injected insulin, but if I had gone through what you had, I wouldn't take it just before bed. You need to be awake if you get any of those symptoms and ready to act. The chances are, nothing at all is going to happen and you'll wake up with a lower BS.

I'm going to be around tonight until quite late. Send a message if you need anything at all.

I'm meant to take it at ten as I'm usually in bed by midnight/1am. I think I'll go for 9:30 as that gives me time to figure out if I'm feeling a bit funny or not.
(Although my skin is prickling now anyway just for the fun of it...my body is trolling me...)

I would love to wake up with a normal BS....Or close to normal.
Hell, I'll settle for 10 at the moment :lol:

If the NHS had more people like you - and the rest of you lovely lot! - there'd be no problems with how patients are treated.

Aww, shucks, I've never been called a leg-end before. Thank you.

I'm a Midwife Natalie, and I HATE hearing stories of how badly people are treated within the NHS. No doubt I have occasionally got it wrong over the years but I try my damndest to get it right.

So, have you taken it? All ok?
 
I took it about 9:30pm last night and I had some mild prickling (nowhere near how bad things were on Saturday night) which settled very quickly.
I had no rash, no wheezing or chest pains; my tongue didn't swell and I wasn't feeling sick which I was thankful for.
I did have a thought though - I have a skin condition where I get itchy (which is why I'm on a pretty hefty antihistamine every night) and get blisters come up all over the place; so I'm wondering if that's anything to do with how I react.
If this goes the same way as the Humulin and it doesn't react until the second time and I start feeling really bad tonight I'm not even going to think about it - I'm going straight to the hospital.
There's a part of me that wants to get a bag ready today just in case but I don't want to tempt fate!

I woke up this morning feeling rough as anything - my glands are up, I'm aching and I just want to sleep for about a week.
My hubby has just given me his cold. I know we're meant to share things with each other but I could've done without him sharing that... :lol:

wiflib - this is going to sound so weird but you kind of remind me of my mom-in-law...she's fantastic, she's feisty, fiery and hates it when things aren't done right. If she were here she'd be going in guns blazing; it's why I've not told her what's going on yet - she'd walk from Spain to kick peoples backsides!
 
Good news BF hope this is well and truly sorted now.
 
Thank you dawnmc and lucylocket61, I hope this means things are starting to turn around now.

I meant to come and update last night but I ended up looking after poor hubby who was really unwell and I think we both just crashed out; I don't even remember going to bed so I must have been tired!!

On a good note, my BS was 9.7 this morning - a far cry from the high teens/early twenties it's usually in :D
 
Great news, long may it continue. While we diabetics fight our corner hopefully we might get better treatment.
 
I'm glad that this insulin was better for you last night, fingers crossed that it continues! Hopefully the cold won't last too long and you can get on top of this new medication and how it works for you.

I've actually been really organized today and sorted out a bag just in case I need it when I take the Lantus later. I think I've put everything but the cat and the kitchen sink in there and if I could take Binx (that's my cat by the way, I've not named the kitchen sink, lol) to the hospital with me I would - she has one of those loud rumbling purrs that just makes you smile immediately.
She'd be great therapy!!

Fingers crossed I won't need it, but I figured better safe than sorry!
 
Rootin for you BF, I hope the lantus doesn't fail you tonight. Im on Lantus and have had no problems with it, so fingers crossed.

Hello BF :) I haven't been here much recently but have just stopped to read this thread and wanted to say congrats for keeping on at them, you have been treated appallingly.

If you feel up to it (and it's fully understandable if you don't) I honestly think you should make a formal complaint via PALS. This type of experience should never happen and I really hope that those who think the HCP's can do no wrong have read your story..this type of thing DOES happen, there is some dire "service" out there.

I know PALS can be a bit time consuming but if people don't complain, those at fault never have to answer for their actions and they will continue to act in the way you have described precisely because they can get away with it.

Bad news - looks like I'm off to A&E.
Itching, tingling lips, tongue swelling a bit and throat feels huge...fingers crossed I won't be there overnight!
