Easter, alcohol + intermittent fasting
Lead
It’s Easter time once more and for some of us it presents a choice, which can be awkward, of whether or not to indulge as much as some of our friends and family may.

Children can find it particularly difficult to control how many chocolate Easter eggs or bunnies to eat but many adults may also struggle to hold back cravings around the Easter break.
Hot Managing Easter and chocolate
Some of us struggle with binge eating even at the best of times. If you regularly struggle to manage how much you eat at a sitting, it could be a sign of binge eating disorder.

Binge eating disorder has been associated with both main types of diabetes, and the fact that high blood glucose levels can often lead to greater hunger is a significant factor.
Hot Recognising and treating binge eating
The Diabetes Community have recently been discussing their own experiences of coping with what can be an overwhelming urge to keep eating.

Find out what tips and advice they've been giving.

What is the 5:2 Diet?
One of the diet plans that has grown in popularity amongst the diabetes community in recent years is the 5:2 intermittent fasting (IF) diet, or simply the 5:2 diet.

By splitting up the week into 5 days of normal eating and 2 non-consecutive days of fasting, the 5:2 diet has been shown to help with weight loss, lowering 'bad' LDL cholesterol and blood pressure levels and improving insulin sensitivity.
