Type 2 Life

That BBQ sounds great fun, I especially like the notion of vodka jelly shots, lime flavour would be my choice. When I joined the forum last year the fbg thread consisted of a long list of figures, I had a post removed because I told someone I hoped she'd feel better soon. She had posted that she felt unwell and was going to docs! I must admit I do think that there is a place for a line or two of encouragement, I admit to being a serial offender but some folks are posting half a page of non BG stuff and then others answer. If a new person found the thread they would be puzzled. Don't think this thread will be moved @doolallylady it is for sharing our day to day living

Hi Kim, yes this is a good place to chat. Sorry for awarding you a funny emoticon but I have a very vivid imagination :) I haven't tried golf myself, my husband and I are keen hillwalkers, hikers and swimmers. Until recently I travelled locally on my bicycle and played badminton but gave these up two years ago when my circumstances changed. It's good to have another person who enjoys humour - pun anyone?- to chat to, I'm really amazed that we've not been shut down on the fasting BG thread- the mods used to be very strict about posting fbg levels only on there and although I'm a culprit myself I do think things have been getting out of hand recently. There is also a thread called "Good Morning" on this forum which is a nice friendly place to chat, you will be very welcome there too. Hope your knees are none the worse today?

Hi @13lizanne
I was one of those who was completely thrown when the previous Type 2 fasting reading was shut down. It was suggested using this thread to ask questions but I don't think many people check this thread now so it is only a very few people compared with the number on the fasting thread. I'm pleased that people on the fasting thread now seem to be able to ask questions and get some suggestions. But there are so many other factors that influence life as a diabetic and have a direct or indirect influence on blood sugars. I do feel we need somewhere where we can discuss and help people with their management in a friendly way. I have used this thread from time to time to ask questions and you have been one of those who helped me. Yes I'm now booked in for an HbA1c on Friday. Also my doctor said he hadn't ever heard of a diabetic with an HbA1c of 33 so I must be a first for him. I don't think my next one will be as good as I've even had fasting readings in the 7's but not many.

Hi everyone, I just got back from Morrison's and I finally found a celeriac! Ironically Morrison's is our nearest supermarket but it's in the opposite direction to everything else so I have to make a special trip there. I just have to pop out to top up the electric meter but after that I'm free for the rest of the night so I'm going to try celeriac chips woo hoo!

How about starting a new thread @Hiitsme for general questions, most people don't like starting new threads every time they want a bit of reassurance or to ask a question and not everyone likes using the search facility. Most people want a person they "click" with ie a real human to answer them. You could have a think what to call the new thread then we could ask the Mod's permission. I wouldn't worry about your HbA1c being a little higher this time, I was thrilled with my 40 and I regularly get a reading in 7s -especially after dinner or if I don't get my usual exercise that day. Seems to me that you're aceing it x

But that is what this thread is for or am I mistaken. This was the thread I was told to use so have been using it. I suppose I will be another who feels not able to use the forum. So many people no longer seem to be around and some of them have been really helpful in the past. I don't know how to ask the Mod's permission and yes you are also right in that I don't feel comfortable in starting a new thread.

@13lizanne and @Hiitsme - hope you don't mind me comming into your conversation? But, Yes I agree with your idea to set up a thread were sensible questions and answers can be asked from other members and encouragement given to help those manage their diabetes. As this thread is mostly banter/chat now. Hope you did'nt mind me saying?:)

BGL 4.7 ( in the night, can't sleep)
Jicame, or Mexican yams make excellent chips. They are also nice raw, and do not lose their crunch when added to stir fry or stews. But I like oven roasted celeriac chips as a special treat. Children like the jicame better, though.
I have been away from the forum for a while, as I was a bit disenchanted with some exclusion policies and lost some friends.
My Dr still puts me in a prediabetic category, even though my HbA1C results have been 34 for more than 18 months. Still, I just laugh and get on with it.
Just been watching a re play of a TV programme with Dr. Michael Mosley and Professor Roy Taylor. They were discussing the 8week restricted calorie diet, and what happens afterwards. I wish someone would devise a Human Dietary regime that was suitable for everyone.
Feeling sleepy now, goodnight.

Oh sorry did I give you a scare with my suggestion? Yes, you are quite right, this thread is for chatting about our type 2 life, I was just trying to be creative and involve you. I'll go and stand in the corner lol PLEASE don't stop posting and using the forum - my bad

@13lizanne ,
This is such a friendly thread that anyone would feel comfortable posting in here. It's full of answers, comfort, knowledge, comedy and insight. Everyone is made to feel welcome and I definitely feel part of 'The Gang'.
Thank you all xx

PS you can come out of the corner now.

This thread is a mix of everything and that's how it was intended, serious stuff like diabetes, general health, the weather, what we're nibbling on or any other bizarre stuff just to chat about.:)

Back home making dinner. Did a shop after the docs. He's not had anything from the Hospital. Had bloods done, a physical and a 20 minute chat.:)

This is the thread for living life with diabetes.

Sorry I'm not trying to stop the chat. If the mod's are happy with us asking questions on the fasting readings thread then that would be far better to use as more people use it. I had been told to use this thread. Sorry just so mixed up.

I don't know whether to say 'No news is good news' or 'How dare they keep you waiting', you choose.
Enjoy your meal.
Thanks. The sleep study test has hours and hours of data to be analysed so that's why it can take ages. The data includes ECG, EEG, EMG, Oxygen Saturations, Chest and Breathing Movements, Eye and chin movements and more. I don't expect a quick reply and the letter said roughly 6 weeks max.:)
