Type 2 Life

It's been like this all of the week.

4.8 yesterday FBG
4.6 before dinner, Haddock, salad of rocket, watercress, radishes, avocado, olive oil dressing, glass of red wine.
Stiff 35 min walk.
4.6 2 hours after.
4.2, FBG

The only things I've changed are, more walks, not had yogurt for breakfast, probably eating more cheese and stopped snacking on almonds.

Off to make a pot of tea, do some work and watch "MoD"....

Sad to relate, looks like DUFC are done and relegated... :arghh:

Wish all a good Sunday.
My readings have been fairly good as well even though I've had a fairly 'carby' week - had staek and chips on Wednesday and was 6.8 at 1 hour and 6.5 at 2 hours. Also had similar readings on Friday with lasagne and salad. The highest my FBS has been this week is 5.1. I've never been very low carb as I have always been able to eat small portions of seeded bread, potatoes and cereals so perhaps that's the reason.

Those are really good results @hankjam I also find that walking helps but my readings aren't as low as yours.

Those are excellent readings. Are you on any medication? I can't tolerate yoghurt in the morning, it pushes my readings right up although it's fine later in the day.

No meds.... yet.
Really wondering about the yog, which would be sad as it is something I really like.... but if it is, then so be it. Thanks for letting me know about your response to it. Hj

@ickihun I'm just catching up with the fbg post messages. PLEASE stay, as a newbie I find your posts so useful and helpful. I'm hoping you will, after just 3 months here you are one of the regular post'ers I value and respect.

I'm now wondering if my post this morning broke the rules

If you look on Greetings and Introductions Forum you will see a thread called Ethos and Forum Rules- by Givenchy. I've had another read of it and it's very useful for understanding what happened on fbg thread. I think everyone got so cosy that we forgot that this isn't a social media site?

Hi @13lizanne
I've reread the "Ethos and Forum Rules" which I think may have changed slightly since I last read them. I still can't see anything that says there are different rules for the Type 2 Fasting thread.
I think I will stop posting on that thread then I won't get caught out with responding to someone. I would just like it to be really clearly stated that no replies are acceptable on that thread - not just now. Those who have been posting regularly for some time will have seen the mods message but any newcomers probably won't go back through all the posts to find those messages.

@hankjam we are all green with envy, not only are your levels super low but they are consistent, which is what we are actually all aiming for. Level readings with little fluctuation is what makes healthy bloods. It's a shame when people get so hung up on low numbers, I'd be pleased with my blood sitting around 5.8 all day instead of some of the mad ranges I have Yesterday my readings ranged from 3.9 after exercise to 7.1 after dinner though other were 5s. Anyone else have this problem?

7.0 this morning happy with that its coming down slowly.......very slowly!

I had a strange one last night I tested at 6.30 5.2 happy with that then got distracted And totally forgot to eat (THE joy of LCHF hey!) 2 hours later I put The steaks on And retested to find I was at 4.2. Even though I felt absolutly fine I did have a minor wobble about that as I thought "Arrhg thatn too low" :-)

1 hour after eating I was much happier when I retested at 5.4.

I have to say THE 4's scare me a bit I like to Bobble along in THE 5's during the day.

Fully agree with you Anna.
I was pretty happy with my FBG of 5.2, I would go days with just that reading, like clock work. Post evening meal was always 5.6 to 6.2 and pretty happy with that.
Last week has come out the blue and really not sure why.... yet.
My wife suggested it was because she was on holiday and I was working regular hours and things... :)
Time will tell if they drift up.
Your point about consistent readings is really well made and what we are aiming for. No shocks to the system please.
Andrew

@Lindy1706 can I ask what you drank with your steaks... I really think that for me steak and red wine will limit my spikes... but have no idea how?

I have never been a huge drinker so I have not dipped my toe into alcohol at all at the moment....so good old water.

I always make sure that I choose a more fat cut like rib eye and eat it with a rich fattier cheese, we like St Agur and a good slug of mayonnaise with the salad.

This trends to keep any spikes to a minimum.

Interestingly I have just looked at my weekly averages and my issue is the morning fasting reading. My average before meals is 5.6 and my average post meal is 5.7 which I am very happy with.

@Daphne917 those bgs are brilliant!
I know what you mean about carbs. I'm not losing on lchf diet no matter how low i go. I'm doing small carb now with less dizziness and weakness. Still veg shy but working on it.
Well done! :)

Nice numbers @Lindy1706 if I'm not drinking wine it is cold water from the tap... unless it is an expresso!

@hankjam :-) I have gone totally off coffee and have converted to Yorkshire Tea, big mugs of it with a splash of milk builders style.....do not seem to be able to get enough of it...very odd as I was never a tea drinker!

I am exactly the same lindy Ive stopped my coffee only habit and have been drinking tea since I went down the lchf path - how very odd!

What's wrong David? Tell your pals
I have tried to cut out every high carb food I can think of (I desperately miss bread but never eat rice, pasta, cakes, pastry, etc), I only ever drink a moderate amount of whisky, I exercise more (perhaps still not enough) and my BS readings, when compared with what I see on here, seem alarmingly high.
