Type 2 Life

Morning everyone, it's a bright and sunny morning and DS is back to college today. I'm going up to my mum's this afternoon so I'm going to relax with a nice cuppa, hope everyone has a good day

Gorgeous morning in London. 3 day week as off to Germany on Thursday evening - should be an interesting exercise in control, just eat lots of German cold meats I guess? Had a great swim this morning, now on a 9 day run of 30 minutes in the pool every day which is making me feel good and key to keeping my numbers down I think. 6.0 post swim which was almost same as FBG. Need to work on my blood pressure too :) ... keeping control all feels a bit like a treadmill at times, but as I'm generally feeling great (and so much better than those carb load days) I'm not going to complain.

Have a great Tuesday :)

Morning all beautiful day here in Kent again today.

A nice 6.2 this morning.. Just about to have a couple of boiled eggs then head off to gym for a session then going into an Aqua class.

Working this afternoon but will break at some point to take the dogs for a walk.

Had a lovely day yesterday just mooching about with the Husband, and was very happy to be wearing clothes that last saw the light of day over 5 years ago! Finished the day off in a wonderful deep and very hot bath with a mug of tea and a good book.....you know the ones where you keep filling them up to stay hot and warm.....bliss.

Hope you all have a good day today especially those of you back at work.

'Morning, peeps - happy Tuesday!
I had a lovely 5.6 bg this morning. Feeling energetic - emptied the dishwasher, boiled some eggs for dinner tonight, put a load of laundry on, cleaned out the hot tub (which we emptied yesterday), washed the filter and set it to refill, then had some chocolate chia pudding with a few frozen black cherries for breakfast - yum. Now I'm off to pick up granddaughter No 2 to give her mum a break for the day.
I hope everyone has a lovely day!
:)

9.1 at 5.30 Didn't expect that as I was 6.4 at 22.30 after a 45 min cycle round the town last night. I got up to pee at 2.30 maybe I should have tested then, but I was too sleepy to try. I've only eaten LCHF yesterday, in fact for the last 32 days, my last meal at 17.30 I had lots of water yesterday (hence the loo in the middle of the night). I had a whole 1/2 sq of 90% chocolate at 22.00 when I came home from cycle. Wonder if the statin I take at night puts up the level? Will 'miss' it out for the next few days to see if it is that.
Hi @berylc that is a big difference. How long have you been following lchf?

Yikes 9.1 this morning, I must learn to resist ale....and chips..and sticky stuff. A week of stringency ahead after bank holiday fun and games.
Me too with regular ice cream. It's wrecking my good efforts. Too many temptations with 2 young kids in the house.
I'm surprised I don't cheat more. I'm surrounded by carbs.
I've overloaded on protein in the past to substitute but made me heavier. Veg for me if I want to get anywhere.
I know it isn't easy! Hope you pick on one cheat and kick its but. Ha ha

We have some good news but will let Ron tell you. I'm over the moon. Thanks to you all. You are great people.xxx

One of the golden rules of addictions/bad habits for material substances is never keep any of them in your house. Very hard for you Vicky with the kids to feed and keep happy. Trying to get a working strategy for temptation is going to be very tricky for you. Good luck ! :)

Just back from my first 3 month check with diabetic nurse, she was all smiles today.
Wt 85kg down from 92kg
Hba1c 36 down from 69( although dr told me 62, but 69 was on the screen today)
Metformin reduced to 500mg once daily.
Next check in 6 months.
Only negative is cholesterol 5.8 HDL 0.8 (something to work on) still managed to dodge statins, just.
My birthday tomorrow, so I am going to have an off plan day either tomorrow or Thursday (first one since start) so we shall see how that affects the old sugars ;)
Could not have achieved this without the support and information from all you guys

Wow thanks Ickihun. I don't have small people around the place tempting me with buns and sweets - goodness knows what my blood sugar would be like then! I am very well behaved during the week, but when I go out at the weekend, especially in the summer, with my morris side, it is very hard to resist the temptations and when you go into a restaurant or cafe (unless it is a greasy spoon) it is well nigh impossible not to stray. My salvation is getting a lot of exercise by walking, morrising or digging up my allotment. I will get there in the long run, I am determined!

Absolutely sensational result. You must be stoked.
One question why do they want to continue the metformin?

Congratulations

Great news!! Well done
My cholesterol upped a bit as my HbA1C came down. Think it's cos am eating lots more cheese

Sun's out now, might pop up to Glasgow by train for a shopping trip. Waiting for my DSN to phone me back about appointments being cancelled and put back, this has happened before and peeving me off. :)

Heshe's keeping you all guessing while were out buying him new trousers. The news is worth waiting for though.
I've got to tell you all as I cant wait for Ron to do it . When he was diagnosed his hba1c was 138 that was on the 12/2/16 as of the 26/4/16 he is now 67. His cholesterol was 8.5 it is now 5.5 .He has be taken of gliclazide for now as his readings are in the 4s but they have upped his metformin. They found protein in his urine so has to do another test . I blame those protein rolls he's been eatin. All in all the nurse is really pleased with his progress.
