Happy, happy, happy!!!
I called my GP surgery today to see if I could get the results of my blood test prior to my first meeting with the DN this afternoon, and apparently my liver function is normal and my HbA1c is 42, with the comment "Good control and an impressive reduction in Hb1Ac". Yayyy!!!!! :joyful:
A massive THANK YOU to diabetes.co.uk, the LCHF diet, and everyone here on the forums who has supported me and shared their advice and experience - there's no way I could have achieved this result without you.
Looking forward to seeing the DN this afternoon, and to continuing this journey with you all.

Blimey! I have just spotted that I appear to have become a "Veteran"... is that a polite phrase for "gobby old bat" ? :joyful::joyful::joyful::joyful:

(Only as it applies to me of course - absolutely NO disrespect to all other Veterans on here!)

Well done @debrasue
Hope this afternoon is really positive. Look forward to hearing more good news.

Two and a half weeks ago, I messed up my foot, tore ligaments/bad sprain. I had been doing so well on my meals/exercise. Now I'm almost completely sedentary with a stupid foot that won't take weight... And my weight loss has stalled, my appetite is wonky, and I'm going mad with boredom. Tomorrow I see the orthopeadic specialist again and I'm scared she's going to say more invasive treatment will be needed. I'm supposed to book my 3month follow-up after my initial T2D diagnosis for this week, but I can't get to the clinic to see the doctor - and to be honest, I am scared that I have not controlled it as well as I think I have. Or that my body is super-resistant or something. I know stress and pain can affect blood sugars, so I'm worried it will make my hba1c messed up as I've been in a lot of pain these past two and a half weeks.

Ugh. Y'all just seem so supportive. Guess I just needed to vent. I live with a family who simply doesn't "get it"... I'm doing very low carb/high fat - mainly carnivore with salad only when I crave veg, so not every day... And my Hunny eats sleeves of Jaffa cakes at a time right in front of me. His BS was just fine. So unfair.

Thanks for listening to me moan.
Morning all. Don't let your ankle get you down.luckily in England we get treatment free mostly, ankles are painful I know, I walk on my toes on one foot cos the ankle was destroyed, one leg shorter, they wanted and still suggest amputation , Ive got torn ligaments ect but the risk is to great to mess with, keep your chin up you will get there, your Young you will heal in time, there are othere ways to exercise, I can't run, swim nothink, so I use stationary bike or exercise on floor, hope you've got some strong pain killers, when your better go slow don't pressure your ankle, just a set back, good luck. Lots of lovely people here on the forum to help you

@Myangelsmom this is a good place to vent, so let it go when you need.
Sorry to read about your foot, a real scunner as we would say in Scotland. I did mine country dancing many moons ago and it's no fun being laid up. I hope your clinic and docs are supportive and understanding of what you're going through.
Good luck
Hj

Well done @debrasue. I had similar first results last week and it really demonstrates what you can do if you put your mind to it, and you get the right advice in the first place! Thank goodness for this website!

Wow that's amazing news a huge well done to you and all of your hard work ☺

So, I had my first visit to the diabetes nurse this afternoon...
I'd been a little apprehensive about this visit until I got my results this morning (HbA1c down from 63 in March to 42; total cholesterol down from 6.1 to 5.3), but I shouldn't have worried. She was lovely (if a little incredulous), and said, "You should be really proud of what you've achieved; we don't see results like that in here very often!"
I told her about this website - which she had heard of and commended - and the LCHF diet and she said, "Well, it doesn't make any sense to me, but you can't ignore the results." She said she could see no reason to introduce meds as long as these numbers continued, and told me to just "carry on doing what you're doing, and we'll see you in 6 months."
I asked her to do another blood test to get an HDL/LDL breakdown, and then I skipped off home.
I even got a hug as I left!
:joyful:

Been a nice sunny day here

Just clouding over a wee bit now

Tea time now that Mrs Cumbs is home from work were having Gammon Wedges and Mixed Veg

It's our 25th anniversary on Thursday got it all planned will reveal a little surprise to her tomorrow night and her other surprises will be revealed on Thursday evening itself

Boredom and frustration can make our minds run like a rat in a trap, so it's good if we can try and channel that energy into something positive (no matter how sedentary!), to counteract the fear. Writing, painting, some sort of craftwork.... or maybe hurling knives creatively at a wall! Whatever floats your boat... (and I'd definitely put the kibosh on those Jaffa cakes! LOL)
Good luck with it - and keep sharing, it's very therapeutic! :)
Hugs x

OR...knife throwing AT the offending Jaffa Cakes. Two birds, one stone (or knife, as the case may be)?
Thanks for making me smile. :)

Hi congratulations. I received your pm but it doesn't let me send pm. Still having trouble keep rejoining. Anyway it's ok your not nosey, I had a bad car accident when I was 4, dragged for a long way under car, told it took 6 to lift car, was given 2 hours to live, told if alive after 2 hours then amputate but, cut it short luckily that didn't happen, but got injury to both legs, right ankle is deformed, my mother had a baby few days after. but as I've said before I've been on the battle area seen first hand that's why I just try to get on with whsts thrown at me, nothink you can do, I'm always in pain every where, I was injured in few places, but we are still here othere's arnt, I get down, depressed who doesn't but just got to keep going, at least I'm not fat & ugly!! Ha ha congratulations you've done very well, pity we can't all meet up and have a big pizza & cheesecake !!!!

Yep - that pretty much mirrors my experience.

When asked the same question - how did you do that - I said " by pretty much ignoring everything you told me to do"

Didn't help me getting strips prescribed though - in fact, I was told to stop testing...

Yeah. Right.

Really?

I ignored that advice too

I suspect the Times they are a changing, but the cogs move really slowly in NHS land :banghead:
