Type 2 Life

Good morning Johhny, you are doing really well despite the roast potatoes :) I hope that you have a good day today and continue to do well controlling your type 2 diabetes

My blood glucose reading at 8:04 Ante Meridian, today, Wednesday 18th May in this year of 2016 was 6.7 Millimoles Per Litre. This is a fantastic little reading and it falls into the "In Range" colour-coordinated categorisation on my One Touch Select Plus blood glucose monitor, in spite of the complex carbohydrates that I impulsively consumed yesterday in the roast potatoes that accompanied the roast chicken and steamed, frozen cauliflower.
Good morning Johnny, that's a very good reading. I'm glad you have realised that the roast potatoes are the reason why your previous readings were high, once you know what the problem is you can start to cut down. Good luck with cutting down on the cigarettes too

Hi all, not sure what's happened, but just tested my BG for before breakfast reading and it's 8.3, which is pretty high for fasting reading isn't it. Didn't have anything bad yest, so not sure what has caused it. Have to see my diabetic nurse today so will see what they say.

You may be suffering from something called the Dawn Phenomenon If you type that into the search box at top of the page you will find many thread references. Or why not go on to the main dcuk site page and read the articles there. Then come back and ask more questions if it's not clear.

Good Morning, my lovely friends on the www.diabetes.co.uk Type 2 Life Forum,

I am posting to inform you that my blood glucose level on Wednesday 18th May in the year 2016 is going up and down like a Yo-Yo. Earlier on, this morning, at 3:00 Ante Meridian, it was 7.1 Millimoles Per Litre. Now at 4:14 Ante Meridan it is 8.2 Millimoles Per Litre. I believe the precipitating factor for this raise in the level, although I haven't eaten anything since waking early, is the 2 blasts of Nicorette FineMist nicotine replacement therapy medication, the 2-3 recycled tobacco hand-rolled cigarettes I ingested and possibly the cup of coffee and cup of tea I consumed but that contained artificial sweetener tablets although quite an excessive amount. I have also consumed approximately 2-3 glasses of tap water.

Have a lovely day, my lovely friends, and thank you very much for your hugs, comments and other methods of social, psychological support. You're all very important to me and I embrace the comments and hugs we share with each other online with my heart.

Yours faithfully,

Johnny Baker (AutisticWonder1970)

Hi, Johnny - I'm no expert, but this increasing BG in the early morning prior to eating might be what is known as a 'liver dump', which means that if your liver senses that your BG levels are too low, it 'dumps' glucose into your system to raise them. I think it's also sometimes called the Dawn Phenomenon. If it's a regular occurrence, some posters have a low-carb/high-fat late evening snack to counteract it, like cheese and low-carb crackers.
I hope this helps! Have a great day.

I agree with 13lizanne - it sounds like a liver dump.

morning everyone . still no x ray results for Ron its getting beyond a joke.
Has he been back to work on a stage to work?
You're right its a joke. Are they just for the gp then? My mums gp diagnosed arthritis on her pelvis without an x-ray but she has a history of it and no falls.
Does @eldergarth have any permanent numbness in his foot/toes?

@Aamena1980 how long did you fast for?
What was the last food you ate before bed? Could be liver dump but not sure. Supper food can help.

Not a good result for fasting this morning at 8.0. But, was at the Hospital from 2pm yesterday for R having 2 medical procedures and we got home at Just before 7pm, we had to eat almost straight away as my blood sugar was 4.0 and I "felt" light headed. Never had my usual supper around 11.30pm of cheese and crackers, and forgot to test before bed, so I may have had a liver dump this morning? :)

Went back to work on Monday on light duties. He's in a lot of pain . He cant feel certain toes or parts of his feet or fingers . He had a blood test on Friday for muscle weakness but his rheumatoid levels came back satisfactory.

Well It's going well so far got out of bed got dressed and took the car for a spin now totally drained but happy. :)

My goodness - you are clearly a survivor, John! I wasn't allowed to drive for 6 weeks after my op - nearly drove me crazy! Don't overdo it though, will you? We don't want to see you banged up again in Stalag 13... :D

Hi gang
Just received the message below from @Giverny about The App so thought I'd keep you updated

"We're trying; it's a bit of a pain in the backside because the forum app is developed by an external company. I think I've now sent them about 15 emails in the last week regarding different issues.

Hoping to have the like button back sooner rather than later as it's become such an important part of the community :("

I'm sure your liver will leave you alone tonight. It had better otherwise we will send the heavies in. ;)
Im easily knocked out of my routine too. I used to be so methodical and organised without kids. Wait til baby comes and starts with toddler antics. Mind u my first son was an angel. I hope you have an angelic one too. :)
How has your day been?

Finished early had a shower and now my bots got stuck on the sofa I am reluctant to even lift a finger to type this message on mobile that's how goosed I feel lol

@ickihun - Vicky, R says going to have to get/sort out spare bedroom for a Nursery for Grandchild!!! The bedroom is so full of: few pieces of Mum's furniture, suitcases full of Mum's bedding & towels and boxes of nick-nacks - I don want to deal with it and I want no-one else to touch anything, not yet anyway. My Sister has been saying for nearly 6 years (since Mum passed) I have to sort through it and get rid!!! No-one will touch anything or allowed to go in that room. Everybody is different in their grieving process and I'm obviously still in that process??? :)

Resetting my Windows Surface RT Tablet. I don't need it now that I have an iPad. My niece asked for it to use on the train and at university. I will give it to her as a gift, there's not a mark on it and it looks new. She has a laptop but it's not very portable. :)
