Not sure if I'm behind times and the only dumb one here - but it has come to my attention only tonight that u can Infact buy sugar free lucozade. Which we all know in a hypo would be no good!
I saw some bottles in morrisons tonight - and they were a different design on the bottle, I just grabbed some thinking. They had changed the packaging! My 14 year old daughter had great pleasure in telling me they're no calories no sugar and no glucose lol (she loves lucozade) so I handed them straight over to her!
So just be aware if u are buying lucozade for hypos peeps!

Heya @Tanny35 that would be very frustrating with a hypo and also dangerous, just thinking if you were having a hypo then you don't tend to read labels, you just ingest and test, so this would be a very bad situation to be in. I personally go for jelly babies, they are pretty quick to get my BG back up, 3 of those work well for me.

I agree - I would have used that if it had not been pointed out to me.
I have heard a few people use jelly babies - think I might give them a try @Juicyj :)

I can't stand Lucozade, with or with out sugar. To be fair I haven't tasted sugar free and don't wish to.:yuck:
Edited to say, well done to the Op for the alert, as I know many do drink it.

I have eaten so many jelly babies since being diagnosed .....

They are my "go to" sweetness if I start to go hypo (all too often these days)

reading labels is pretty much a full time job for us D's

well done @Tanny35 for bringing this to our attention.

I don't mind lucozade (wouldn't chose it as a drink to quench my thirst like some non diabetics do tho) I do get sick of it tho.
Are u a jelly babies kinda girl for hypos? I think my problem would be - I probs wouldn't stop at 3/4 like others say they do, as in hypo u know u just keep loading sugar in. Where as I know how much lucozade to drink to bring me up but not over do it.
Have u ever tasted hypo stop? Blurrrggghhhh that is disgusting!

I completely appreciate this is off-topic, so apologies to the OP, and I won't clog your thread, but @magsiesss - does your Doc know you have lots of hypos? Are you still taking Gliclazide in the same dosage?

Thank you for asking - I am on 80gr Glic per day - and no, the doc does not know about the hypos yet. I think its partly because I changed my lifestyle since April 2016 and am hitting the gym and eating less carbs. I don't snack inbetween meals.

I am on holiday next week and if it all doesn't settle down, will make an appt to see him. I think I need to come off the Glic but wanted my bloods to stabilise (I thought it might be because I have recently reduced my Glic dosage).

I think a chat with your GP would be worthwhile.

Now, going back on topic, with apologies to @Tanny35 . These marketeers can be sneaky like that. The opposite can also be true; for example, when Coke Green was introduced many folks were caught out, believing it to be sugar-free, which it isn't. As I recall, it's a sort of half and half.

It certainly pays to keep our eyes peeled!

Hi Tanny, I mainly use dolly mixtures, foam bananas and foam shrimps, plus GF digestives as a follow up. I was given Lucozade once in Morrison's supermarket (an embarrassing hypo) years ago and I was refusing to drink it, it tasted disgusting, but the help and support from the supermarket was very good.
I have tasted hypo stop and yes it is disgusting, but I don't use it, my granddaughter has hypo stop in her diabetes bag.

Ohhhhh I love those foam bananas. I don't use hypo stop - but once I went unconscious through a hypo, and ended up in an ambulance. My BG was refusing to raise. I'd had a glucagon injection and lucozade also, but went in to another hypo in the ambulance. They gave me that hypo stop. One taste and I was refusing anymore haha - it's mad what we do isn't it in these situations. I have some by my bed as a last resort of ever I go unconscious again for the girls to rub in my gums. The vile taste would probably bring me round

Jelly babies are great plus most of the time they actually keep your sugar sustained

Have you tried Gluco tabs come in a tube can get them in boots or at the chemist few different flavours too always have them with me as the tube is easy to fit in your pocket apposed to a bag of jelly babies

My mum used to have the glucose tablets from Boots. I think she had the purple ones. I tried a bottle of that sugar free lucozade the other day and I am going to try the pink lemonade next as I wasn't too keen on the orange flavour.
