Fruit Smoothies

Depends if you are worried about qty of carbs.

I have a Cuisinart SB3 soup/smoothie maker/ice crusher that is supeeb.

I make 6 big glasses and hubby and I have one for brunch over 3 days. Keeps fine in fridge.

I have to have smoothies due to stomach peobs and tgey always come in ataround 28g for a large glass.

I weigh everything.. Recipes change slightly but I always have to add in spinach for iron into mine. I am OTT on checking nutrition balance so also have a banana for potassium. Only one banana divided in to 6 large glasses.

I do find carbonated water makes them quite light and fluffy.

I add in various things.. Always carbonated water and soinach and a frozen banana. Then an asst of frozen blueberries or raspberries. Rachel ls ginger yogurt, an avocado for healthy fat, 200ml of smooth orange juise etc.

Why do you ask about smoothies? I wouldn't be having them if I could eat real food.... I have stomach probs and need to ensure I have balanced nutrients each day. If I could avoid a smoothie and eat this instead, I would.

The SB3 also cleans itself!!

will try almond-milk and blueberries and maybe some hemp-protein and stevia as sweetener... haven´t counted how many carbs that´ll be.

Waiting for my new blender as my daughter killed the other with boiling water... this one is for real hot Water and chrushing ice as well....
am thinking of some kind of healthy green vegetables smooties to get some of my vegetables as fluid and maybe with green tea or matcha tea in

Do a search for green smoothies (this forum and the wider web), lots of info on ways to do healthy fruit/veg smoothies that taste delicious and don't have significant blood glucose impact.

As a T2 i wouldn't touch those sweet fruit smoothies though - they would play havoc with my blood glucose control.

Avocado with lettuce celery and various spices. I too prefer to eat my food rather than smoothies.

If you have a prob with eating veg then it is a way to eat it but it can also add calories on .... Depending on what else you put in it.

My smoothies are purely for nutrition and to keep some weight on....I'm barely a size 8 so its very important to me.

If you are using purely with veg in then I would imagine this is ugh!! Never tried but adding sweetener isn't going to change the actual taste....

I lovee real food and greens and wonder whether you've trued adding broccoli to a homemade curry or fried courgette in butter? I bet if you went to a restaurant and didn't know that you were having fried courgette that you would love it. Add on couple poached or soft boiled eggs and yum!!

Good luck on smoothies to get your veg in take. If you do conjure up some good all round nutrional and tasty ones, please let me know... I cannot have any artificial sweeteners at all....

i do eat a lot of vegetables but mostly in my vegetarian dinner meal... the green smoothies is meant for breakfast ...
the avocado-letuce selery sounds interesting

I would add cilantro onions maybe coriander cumin and some spicy sauce. Just like guacamole but smoothie style thinned with a little water or lemon/ lime juice. Very low carb filling and flavorful!! Keep us posted if you try it.

There are also recipes for chocolate avocado pudding that could be thinned with nut milk or water.

Any fruit smoothies suitable for type 2?
Are you making your own or buying..?
If buying check the contents but I would imagine they would be very high in carbohydrates which is not good for a type 2..
If you are making your own a few raspberries with some double cream wizzed up could be nice maybe?

Good point! Gracious me. I have been avoiding sweet processed foods for so long now, it never even crossed my mind that @RoDoW could be talking about bought smoothies!

If that was what you meant, RoDoW, then please look at the nutritional info on the bottle before you drink them. They are full of carbs and sweet fruit - it isn't the sugars you need to look at, it is the carbohydrate (because all the carbs will turn to sugar in your body, and send your blood glucose up higher).

It is up to you how much carbohydrate you are prepared to eat in a single serving, but for the sake of your blood glucose, the lower the better.

Avocado, some kind of nut milk, handful of walnuts, full fat greek yoghurt.

Thanks for input everyone! It was bought smoothies I was referring to. Don't have much time in the morning as I leave at 6:00 am and was looking for a good option for breakfast that I could grab and go. Maybe bought smoothies are not the way to go due to carb content etc.

How about skip breakfast? Extend that fasting period from just overnight to from dinner to lunch. I'm sure that and LCHF have reduced my blood sugar numbers dramatically.
