Novopen Echo broke!!

Nothing is ever straight forward for me nowadays! Lol!!

Yup, that's a broken pen. Is it refillable? Or was it refillable. I feel horrible at all the plastic I throw away with each Lantus solo pen I use. (It's called novopen Echo? Do you have to get a prescription for it? Thanks, and I am so sorry yours broke-my driving glasses pretty much did the same thing Friday-I am thinking it is the cold weather making the plastic brittle.

I just saw the picture of th box with all the contact info on it. Thanks.

My Echo has now gone in exact same area, two days of dodgy BGs before I checked the pen out!

Blimey!! Make sure you get the serial number from dialling up 30 units. Report it to MHRA and report it to Novo Nordisk.

I had spooky readings before for about 36 hours which, with tresiba could be right.

@steve_p6 did you post on facebook about this too? as I was going to say to DDs someone had a similar break on their pen and had had odd BS results!

Novo sent me a new pen...

Wrong type!!

Nothing ever straight forward for me,

Sent me novopen 5 - 1 unit pen instead of red echo -1/2 unit pen.

My new year wish is to stop
having bad luck constantly!

DOAH!

As we diabetics say tomorrow is a new day when we're having a rough BS day, hopefully for you it also applies to years too!

All the best.

I've had 4 of these pens in the last year and all have failed as shown here, with the pens breaking in half. This is a serious design fault. As they begin to fail then the amount of insulin being delivered starts to vary because the plunger forces the 2 halves apart instead of pushing the bung into the cartridge.

Blimey that is a lot @Roody :wideyed:

yes...very frustrating. I reported to Novo Nordisk around 9 months ago and returned a pen. I had an acknowledgement that they received the pen but no further feedback. Have now reported to MRHA.

The piece of plastic that fractures is 0.25mm thick and is critical to function.....however there is a nice sturdy pocket clip on the lid!!

My pens are a few years old now, the Echo is by far the best insulin pen that I'd used and it's disappointing to know that there's a design fault now, hope Novo get it sorted asap.

Yes apart from this issue, it is a good pen...hopefully there is something in the pipeline to fix it...
