Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Good morning all, it's a stormy morning in North Scotland.
4.9 today
It's my first Christmas since being diagnosed so I was fairly careful yesterday but had a really good Christmas dinner and I'm chuffed with that :)

Chicken breast cooked in quince paste, thyme, garlic, salt pepper and red wine with broccoli, sprouts, a couple of small new potatoes then fried a little in extra olive oil and added rosemary. A glass of red wine followed by a white nectarine.

I was dreading the reading more than ever, but needlessly so - 5.9!

Ha ha ... you won the FBG lottery @debrasue well done, I'm up in the 7s but totally deserve it. Off for a swim soon and a walk later to bring it down. Happy Christmas :)
Isn't it much more stressfree knowing you have the skills to reduce it after a treat?
This forum has given me that confidence. Forever grateful!
I'm hoping by march I'll be on good track and in an excellent routine for weight loss. It will be my birthday present to myself. Here's to 2017 everyone! :) :) :)

Snap @PenfoldAPD mine is also 7.4. But it should be 17.4 considering what I ate yesterday, now where's the leftover trifle?
Ohhhh trifle! I'll have to make one. No no. No point I'm only one who eats it. Not a good idea, after all.
Will buy a pack of 3 from supermarket but not the same as mine, with sherry in. Oh I miss my trifle! :(

Edited to say : I need a party excuse to make my trifle. Hum..... ;)

Morning All

Somewhat remarkable 5.3 for me this morning. It was 6.3 before we got started yesterday evening, so I was expecting a lot worse.

5.1 but I didn't do any sweet stuff as I don't have a sweet tooth so no dramas. however I had an epic drinking session from mid afternoon to the early hours. still good numbers so I'm a happy bunny

Your liver is very busy at the moment, so will not be producing glucose.

Correct.......there are definitely positives to drinking. even large quantities of beer do not increase my blood sugars. I like the fact that the liver puts processing alcohol to the top of the list....

7.7 this morning and my first fasting test for two days, ate full xmas dinner with all the trimmings including the potatoes mashed and roasties, made some sweet red cabbage german style as not fond of cranberry, oh and half a bottle of Rioja no pudding but two large mince pies late evening when I polished of the rest of the bottle, not a lover of any white or sparkling wine at all. I'd say I was guilty as charged m'lord with 7.7 being lower than i'd expected.

I wonder if alcoholics then are less prone to diabetes .....

I think moderate drinking improves insulin sensitivity. Not sure what moderate is but I suppose if my sugars start to increase after drinking then I can assume I am becoming more insulin resistant. keep testing is the key.

5.2 this morning mind you started using Codefree again with new batch of strips and did have a full Christmas dinner Turkey and all the trimmings with a dollop of bread sauce which I do like a lot, that my Grandson cooked for us.

Not to mention the spuds halved and roasted in skins with chilli and garlic topped with cheese.
