Type 2 Life

I have been having 3 monthly bloods done at doctors for the last 6 months to monitor my new "no meds " regime and my elevated cholesterol. Last test was on the 31st Jan and get the results tomorrow at my diabetic review.
The only naughty I had over Christmas was about 5 Quality Street chocs so hopefully won't have done too much harm .
The nurse found microscopic blood in urine so sent off sample so await the results of what this is as well . Nurse did offer delaying this test to allow me to get over Christmas but I said no it will keep me on the straight and narrow i hope !
@connie104 how did your review go?

My guilty pleasure now Debs is Cavalier milk chocolate bars made with stevia and of course oppo .
I do have an apple a day still and have found most fruits don't spike me to much as long as don't go mad .
Had my pain relief increased again today by GP and got to have chest X-ray as my breathing is not improving but gp not sure if it's the pleurisy plus having bloods done again .
Oh, blimey, Ron - it's never-ending, isn't it? And the pain affects your mobility which, in turn, is bad for your lungs... You poor guy... Sending big hugs xxx

Get sugar free jelly and sugar free fruit juices out. Mind u jelly can have quite a few carbs thou. Sugar free fruit pastiles maybe? Cream with your fruit in?
I'm thinking of you. ♡♥♡
If you feel compromised go with it til your 100% but don't go mad. You're having higher bgs anyway which need support so use what works for you. More so now than any regular time. Drink plenty of water and hot drinks to keep your system working and kidneys well flushed out of extra meds. I know easier said than done. As you can imagine me living with 3 men i have to sort myself out only too. Mr ickihun doesnt drink hot drinks so i mostly do without unless im up and ok.
Thanks Vicky. I'm not keen on sugar-free jelly as I find that the sweeteners in it leave a chemical taste at the back of my throat, but that's an excellent idea about the fruit and cream - thanks! :)

@connie104 how did your review go?

I came out of review a bit shocked actually as my bloods had gone up to 42 (37) 3 months ago but cholesterol had gone down from 7.1 to 6.2
I think this proves to make LCHF work you need to eat the fat. I had consciously cut out the fat from my diet to keep the DN happy gone was the butter, full fat mayo, cheese etc etc which I loved and in came low fat spread Greek low fat yogurt etc .
I am now going to resume my old way of eating as I would rather have lower blood glucose than the lower cholesterol . I thought I might be able to have both but seems not !

Advice

Advice very much appreciated, I'm still a relative newbie here!!!

Thank you
Give it a try @PenfoldAPD . Let me know how you get on. It has to be sustainable, whatever you do. Fluctuating bgs are worse than slow and steady, as we all know. What is your highest bgs? If you're pulling in 5s regularly a holiday is healthy to have, my dn has told me that stops burn out. Which is devastating! Anyone whose experienced it wouldn't want that for you! If your regularly over 7.8mmol/l then its stated to be where damage is accumulated over time.
My currently ailments is due to mobility. No offer of a diagnosis to my horrific pain in walking, never mind swimming etc. I've been given painkillers and one physio session for stretches so far. All putting my diabetic management under pressure. Like everyone else!

Thanks Debs but don't squeeze to hard
It's been great having the wheelchair got some freedom at last normally takes me up-to 45 min to walk to my docs but was there in 10 min today using my chair .
Hope your feeling better now Debs how is your breathing ?

You can if you walk off your bad fats. Not all fats are bad for you. Nuts have good oils, mackerel too. Choose your oils but be careful of too much of anything! My cholestrol is 4.4 on lchf and a little bit lower bgs. As protein raises my hba1c too. If I don't eat I get 9.8s!!!

Well, my GP was telling me that the breathlessness and the cough was either due to my weight or my heart, (heart function checked in the ambulance and again twice in A&E and pronounced fine), so it never occurred to me that it might be anything more. And I hate going to see the doctor, because it takes forever to get an appointment and when you do get one you feel as if they're trying to get you out of the door as quickly as possible.
The trouble is that when something goes on for a long time, you forget what it feels like to be well, and feeling ****** becomes the norm!
I totally agree. Walking in pain, breathless and with crutch is my now normal. :( That should never be at my age, especially since I was swimming 3 times a week and restarted mini jogs. :(

Oh @eldergarth . It must be very very painful?

I'll second that one Debs and Vicky , this time last year was walking an average of 7 miles a day to having to use a wheelchair to get about the hospital doesn't care still playing the waiting game while they play around with my meds
Yes they do a great job when it all falls into place but such a drag trying to get the answers

Called appointments today.
My failed ct angiogram has frozen up my future appointments. So a nurse in cardiology is leaving a note on the Secretary/admins desk for them to sort out.
So guess what I'll be calling them back tomorrow at 11am. Wasted one week nearly already with their duff system. I need my life back!!!
Oh and gp hasnt received my echocardiogram result back yet. So still in limbo. Cardiologist there suggested a mycardial perfusion test but appointments said my appointments all frozen. I guess that might be common if I'm awaiting a procedure? No good having appointments too close to angiograph. Then again computers are easily confused, as we all know.

Did they give you the HDL (good) and LDL (bad) numbers, because I think that's more relevant than the total figure?

Thanks Debs but don't squeeze to hard

Better at rest, thanks, but not much change with activity yet, thanks for asking! And at least the horrible stabbing pain in my side and back has gone. :)

I collect a copy of the test results tomorrow ( they have to ask doctors permission) !! so I will put a copy on here once I have collected it . She did say LDL had gone down but exact figures I don't know I was more upset about my blood glucose going up !!

That's understandable, but it's good news if your LDL has gone down. And a "normal", ie non-diabetic, HbA1c is anything under 42, so you'd only just be in pre-diabetic range. Hugs x
