Are two bananas per day okay with a LCHF diet? I find them very filling.

Do you have a meter so you can see the effect they have on your blood sugar levels? That would be my guide as to whether they are suitable for your eating plan.

If you're still aiming for a very low carb/ketogenic diet - then bananas will definitely be off limits, being one of the highest carb fruits around.

So one banana would be about your daily keto diet limit and two would not leave you much leeway on a very low carb (e.g. max 50g carbs) one. Otherwise it's up to you, but as already suggested you should use a meter to check how you respond to that much sugar.

The only way to find out would be to test before eating them then test at one hour and two hours afterwards. I would do the one hour test as bananas are high carb and I suspect would put your bg up quickly.
I'm not happy if my bg rises above 7.8, a one off is fine for me but not consistently.

That's a handy graphic @Robbity . Thanks, I printed it off for the kitchen!
Rather a pity that raspberries, strawberries and blueberries that are currently easily available were not included as rasps and strawberries are about the lowest carb fruits and blueberries are not too bad.
Rasps = 4.6
Strawbs = 6.1
Blueberries = 9.1

That graph doesn't say, is it per pictured portion? per 100g? per single fruit? Not very useful.

Thanks for the pix, I can now see why my GP put me on Metformin last September when my hba1c went up into the 7% region.

Bananas were pretty cheap here in Bundaberg earlier in the year (2016) at around the 50 cents a kilo mark, so we got stuck into them every day. :D

Per 100g. @carbolysis Measuring by single fruit isn't reliable as fruits vary in size, however the Carbs and Cals book and app do give estimates for different portion sizes.

Blackberries are not too bad either at just over 5g, redcurrants and gooseberries are both a little lower but rhubarb at less than 1g carbs per 100g has to beat all the berries hands down. :p

Been scoffing apples and blueberries stewed
I used to like apple and blackberry pie when I lived in the UK, unfortunately blackberry vines are a noxious weed and are poisoned here in Australia.

Blackberries we get here are a product of Chile. :meh:

Actually just a pretty picture to indicate for you where bananas live in the fruit hierarchy carbs wise.

My post was based on a "guestimated" average weight of a small banana after a rummage through Google, rounded down slightly to a nice easy 100g to use as a basic example. For a medium banana you'd add another 50g (approximate) weight so 30ish grams carbs - and over basic keto 20g daily limit. However you haven't answered @azure's question regarding the amount of carbs you're currently working to, and answers ought really to depend on this figure - though essentially bananas are high carb fruit whichever way we look at them
