9.7 this morningSo disheartening and I had such a bad night. On top of that a diabetes consultant appointment at 10:30am

Morning all. 8.7 this morning at 7.50 am. Had 2 lots of wobbles/ shakes yesterday following my biopsy. One was pre- lunch ( directly following my biopsy) so had a carby snack at the hospital just in case. Second was pre early evening meal. Recognised the hypo onset signs ( overheating, wobbling, shaking hands & knees/ hunger) so gobbled a quickly made sandwich/ mini pork pie that I was preparing for my mum at the time. Tested after I'd stopped shaking and was 4+. Retested a short time later and I'd jumped up to 9.8. All over the place! Have a good Friday one and all. Nearly the weekend!

Thanks ziggy_w. Biopsy now done. Just got to wait for the results.Good morning all. My blood sugars today were 4.8.
Friends, I would just like to share something that happened to me yesterday. I met a colleague, who is a Type 2 on insulin. We had last talked sometime about 9 months or a half a year ago, when he asked about my weight loss and I told him that the reason for this was diabetes and subsequently going on a low-carb diet. Back then, I had a feeling he just wasn't interested in finding out more about low-carb.
Yesterday, when I walked by his classroom, he rushed towards me with a smile and reported that he had gone on a low-carb diet, had come of a insulin about 10 days later and lost 30 kg. He said his Hba1c is now better than it had ever been on insulin.
I really have to say these news made my day. Couldn't help smiling all day.
Happy belated birthday, @Ixarix. Hope you had a fun day in Toronto in spite of the appointment.
@dogslife -- hopefully they find that everything is fine. Am keeping my fingers crossed.
@Bubbsie -- hope you get the results you want. Good luck!
It's a touch high but not skyhigh high. It is indeed part of the condition that all of us here battle against. I don't wish to try to sound like I a being clever but the consultants always seem to be a lot less stringent on us than we actually are on ourselves. I am sure your appointment will go very well but if it doesn't then it is just work in progress. I know that the appointments are stressful but the consultants are there to help us manage our condition. Very good luck with your appointment![]()

Thanks Diabeticliberty. I was told that the results will be sent to the ENT consultant who requested the test and that if I don't hear anything by 2 weeks to get in touch with him. I think that is standard advice they give everyone as I've heard it before. The hospital team were brilliant. They took 2 separate samples from my thyroid but said from what she could tell from the ultrasound it didn't look "worrying". Hope you are OK this morning. Your levels are low even for you!I hope things are calmer for you this morning. You really do deserve a break. Any idea when you will get your results through?
I live in North Bay, Ontario, Canada which is about three hours north of Toronto. I'm about five hours behind most of you in the U.K. Population of North Bay is 50k approximately. I turned, 44 last Tuesday. I feel older this year because of whatI went through health wise. But still up beat about things.
Thanks JohnEGreen. The biopsy was OK. The hospital team were very good. They did a thorough ultrasound and took 2 samples from my thyroid. They were very reassuring. Just got to wait for the results now but I'm not too worried. Good fbs for you this morning. Well done!@dogslife wow pretty rotten time for you yesterday how did the biopsy it's self go. Hope you feel better soon.
My fbg was 4.8 this morning.
we all have individual goals, my weight is going in the wrong direction at the moment which is why I am trying to go back to the initial successfull eating style ; rather low fat and low carb and few calories... it seems I gain weight very easily from eating high-fat foods... but I have also been bad and not able to go really low carbs so guess the reason is the combination..
well my numbers are seldome under 5.5 mmol and even then my HbA1c is only 34... so if high spiking is okay , I think must be a judgement of ones whole scenario... but what I learned at the diabetes course here in Denmark is that a rise of 2 mmol from what the number was right before the meal is okay and a fine goal to strive for......., well that was the official advice..
but the spiking in itself seems to be damaging too.... so we all have individually to find out at what level we can cope and how high we´ll accept our spiking to be... I don´t care that much myself... but maybe that will backfire in the long run when it comes to the bad progress of this evil disease.

Thanks DL...but...I was referring to my INR levels...I take Warfarin indefinitely...difficult to exert control over that...managing the BG levels fine (so far)...Warfarin a different kettle of fish altogether...have regular blood tests...can't self monitor at home...the antibiotics did unbalance my levels...higher than they should be...but...easier to get them down...rather than bring them up...so heading in the right direction...fingers crossed.Good control is about the long term objective. Marathon not sprint and all that malarkey. An upward blip while not well and on antibiotics while being bloody annoying and a bit demoralising is in the long term completely insignificant. Your control is excellent![]()
