Just got a meter. 4.7 before food. Ate some protein and fat. Spiked to 5.8 and feel bad. Is it bad? Crashed to 5.0 just now.
The spike and crash you are referring to are within the variability parameters of your meter (15%) i.e. your blood sugar could have been completely stable and still given you those readings. That is a completely normal response.

Why are you zero carbs???

You are getting stressed and anxious from this.

There is absolutely no point in testing before an hour...after food...

To be honest if you really want to see your blood sugar levels and whether they are in normal parameters then you need to eat some veg or something with carbs in...

Personally from the food you have listed I dont think your diet is nutritionally balanced for all vitamins and minerals..

Please take the time to list the food you have ate say today, and look up the main vitamins in them... I think you would be wiser to consider the vitamins and minerals you are getting and not get frantically worked up about diabetes...

I wrote on this forum a few days back. My symptoms are getting worse and am losing more weight. When laying in bed I feel like my muscle mass in disappearing, muscles moving themselves. I feel bad after eating. I only eat protein and fats, removed almost all carbs.

I called up a doctor I know back in my country and she was horrified hearing the GTT result of 13.8. She was relieved to know that my fasting glucose and hba1c is normal. she said it is likely autoimmune type 1 and I will get rapidly worse if endo is not getting to see me.

How can I cope with this? I told my GP to immediately refer me to endo and he seemed receptive but how long will it take? My pancreas could die in the meantime and I go into coma or something ...

Please advice me on what to do, how to get to specialist asap because stuff is getting worse every day. Yesterday, I could not walk 500 m without getting out of breathe completely. My pulse was 150 and I was having an almost heart attack.

been there doing that could get t shirt printed
get carbs back in your system I would aim for 120g per day and slowly up it after a couple of weeks.currently Im on 220 to 270 per day and weight 13stone aim to have protein with some carbs no fats at least for one of your meals as this will aid muscle growth
get potassium in your system bannanas or spinich that will help with the twitching
you dont say which muscles have wasted with me it was mainly my quads which makes up a high percentage of a bodys muscle mass
another recipe that worked for me in the morning 200ml orange juice with 1/4 teaspoon pink salt and cream of tartar
another question before your diagnosis did you have occassions where your energy would crash for no apparent reason?

When you saw the doctor did he do a full blood count? If you are going in complaining of a high BS they perhaps only tested that and there may be another reason for palpitations and breathlessness. Also what is your HbA1c, that is a far better indicator of you BS levels.
When your heart beats fast, I have had it, it makes you feel awful and it makes you feel anxious, and makes your heart beat faster. So some relaxation tapes, and deep breathing they do work.
If you are losing weight and worried about the carbohydrate I would try something like MyFitnessPal and make sure you are eating enough calories, either try small amounts of carb, like a Lidl high protein roll, because it has 300 cals but low carbs. So eating just two a day would quickly increase your calories. Or try eating more fat. If you are eating more calories, and you are still losing weight, you will have a record of what you have eaten to give to the doctor/dietician.

It is quads indeed, and traps. Yes, my energy crashes randomly.

Wait, were you also starving yourself before diagnosis? What were your symptoms and what made you do that? Also, are you a thin type 2?

Yes, I had full blood count, liver tests, kidney tests and some other stuff I don't know about. Hba1c is 4.9%. Fasting glucose was 3.9.

Was your sodium level low on blood work? I thought I was having hypo attacks until my Dr saw my sodium was low and ran a bunch of Addison's tests then was dx Primary Addison's 2 month's ago.

4.7 before food.
normal blood sugar.

Spiked to 5.8
a rise to 5.8 on eating is NOT a spike. It is completely normal blood sugar. If you feel bad at 5.8 then feeling bad has NOTHING to do with your blood sugar levels.

Crashed to 5.0 just now.
moving from 5.8 to 5.0 is NOT a crash. 5 is a completely normal blood sugar level.

4.7 - no meal
5.8 - 20 mins
6.0 - 40 mins
6.4 - 60 mins

These are all, every single one, completely normal healthy blood sugar levels and do not in any way raise an indication of diabetes.

5.7 currently 1.5 hrs after meal. 5.0 was around 30 mins after meal.

Again, these are perfectly normal non diabetic blood sugar levels.

I lost 4 kg since September. It was 71 with shoes on, now it is 67kg. Fortunately, got an appointment with endo tomorrow and my glucose meter came in today to observe what is happening ...

It doesn't take a genius to work out you are losing weight because you aren't eating enough. Simple. You have previously posted that you have a habit of calorie restriction when worried.

Hba1c is 4.9%.

This confirms that you aren't diabetic. Diabetes is a condition of high blood glucose. You don't have high blood glucose, therefore, you don't have diabetes.

Whatever is causing your symptoms, it isn't diabetes.

No, it is fine. All my tests are great. My liver enzyme ALP used to be high 2 years ago, now it is very normal, eveerything is normal.

Looks like it time for a nice juicy steak with onions, mushrooms and garlic butter. Side of broccoli and perhaps some sweet potato.

None of your numbers are anywhere close to diabetic.

Look at your calorie intake. Are you skimping on proteins and fats? They are essential nutrients.

4kg loss when in 3 months when you change your diet is not a great weight loss.
I agree with the other responses that this does not sound like diabetes.
Have you read about the symptoms of diabetes such as incredible thirst and frequent toilet visits?

Yes, but it is only when glucose is running high. If one does not overload on carbs, then glucose will not rise to the levels of thirst and symptoms will not show up. Because there is no need for kidneys to evacuate excess glucose from blood stream.

anxiety can cause sudden weight loss as your body is running on Adrenalin.

yes I am a thin ish type 2 before diagnosis I had lost 2 and 1/2 stone fairly quickly I was eating mega loads of sweet stuff, a pack of ginger nuts had no chance to survive the day once opened, no pop or mcdonalds type stuff had many energy crashes over the years.
After diagnosis went the low carb high fat route only to feel **** and lost and I mean lost my quads Itried to jog and fell over went to ride a cycle and could not pedal by pushing with my right leg
it was then I saw
which made me think if fat in my muscle cells was the problem then going high fat was probably not the best for me also as I had lost muscle mass and needed to rebuild it.
you can not build muscle running on ketones

your bloods would be higher and not react so well your hba1c proves your not diabetic. eat normally for a week or so and then tell us your bg levels.

sorry you are wrong you can maintain muscle on ketosis but you cant build it as ketones are not anaerobic, if you have very high protein you body will convert it to glucose through gluconeogenesis. Of course maybe if you went to live in a harsh climate your body might adapt over several thousand years but that seems a bit extreme way of doing things

i never mentioned very high you need enough to prevent your body eating its own muscle. ive built muscle whilst on this diet. ive worked in a heavy manual job in the past whilst on it. and believe me i was stronger at the end than before.

I think the consensus of advice is to:

Improve your diet and nutrition

The figures and your blood tests indicate you are NOT diabetic.

You are responding to people talking about diabetes but not ones suggesting you improve your diet.... why is this?

From my personal outlook and view it is that you are quite obsessed with having a type of diabetes.... despite your blood figures showing different.

You need to look at your nutition and diet and callries and relax... please speak to your doctor to get some help fegarding anxiety attacks / panic attacks and get help for these. These are important to sort out as they can lead to further mental health issues...

If I did not have an abnormal OGTT, I'd be rather calm. But having a real data point that high will not calm me down. I meet an endo today at 3pm, thankfully...
