If I did not have an abnormal OGTT, I'd be rather calm. But having a real data point that high will not calm me down. I meet an endo today at 3pm, thankfully...
it means your not very healthy. eat healthily and then see what it is. you cant take any test as accurate when your diet is so out of whack. in the long run if you dont change you may end up as a type 2 but now your not. abusing your body is more likely to cause it than anything. it really is that simple.

I always ate healthily and enough before this ensued. Breakfast: bacon, eggs, avocadoes with some amazing yoghurt. Lunch: Rice, vegetables, beaf, home made tortillas, spanish paella, dinner: some kind of fish, such as salmon with rye bread and vegetables.

I never had eating disorder. Only when things happen, I tend to go down with hypochondria, not eating or drinking much and hating myself.

The only reason you failed your OGTT was because you had starved yourself for several days beforehand, by your own admission, eating zero carbs and barely any calories, and you were dehydrated.

" I was still not drinking enough water or eating much calories at all and went to GTT while starving and having not eaten any carbs for 3-4 days." That is what you said.

You then asked "However, I am very concerned with me failing GTT so horribly. Would starvation and dehydration + almost zero carbs for a few days before would be the reason my glucose spiked so much?"

You were told that yes, that was the reason you spiked so much by me and others. I gave you the instructions given to patients on how to prepare for the test. This was my post :

Failed GTT & Circumstances

You appear to have either not read this or are determined to ignore it.

When you drank that glucose drink you gave your body such a shock that it reacted, you experienced pain and failed the test. I am not at all surprised. We are supposed to eat 150g of carbs for 3 days before an OGTT. You did the opposite, and you failed. There are very good reasons for the advice to eat carbs before such a test.

I did not ignore that. I was told by another doctor that it does not really matter. If pancreas is working and functional, then you could have fasted for a week, then ate half a cake and blood glucose after 2 hrs would not be more than 8.5. This is a doctor talking not some Internet story.

All my googling suggests that one abnormal OGTT can have all sorts of reasons, not necessarily diabetes. All your blood sugars sound normal. 3kg weight loss in a week is abnormal, but is quite possible if you're just not eating enough calories. Your lack of carbs could be putting you into ketosis, which does make you feel ill. If you push your weight down too low you risk an eating disorder. It then becomes very hard to think rationally about food, and you really need to get weight to normal levels for a sustained period in order to restore your rationality.

Hope your endocrinologist helps you this afternoon. Good luck.

My blood sugar rose to 5.7 just from eating one tomato and some peanut butter. And it is always this feeling: getting anxious, moving around, and dizzy headache. Tired as hell. This is not good and I am not optimistic.

Then the doctor needs to read the instructions issued to them. A quick Google brings up NHS directives to doctors and patients on the OGTT. He also needs to learn how the pancreas works because he clearly doesn't know - point him in the direction of what the last meal effect means.

You failed your OGTT because you were not eating properly for 3 days before the test. It was not because you have diabetes. You don't have diabetes.

She lives in my home country. I went to her to check myself through for illnesses such as bad digestion. She checked everything: heart, nervous system, brain, pancreas, liver, gallbladder. Found why I cannot digest fats well, the only doctor who took me seriously and spent 3 hours on me. I trust her. In our country, the OGTT guidelines say nothing. You are either below 8.5 after 2 hours or not. However, the reasoning by NHS makes sense. Technically, starving body flooded with pure sugar will probably be screaming: ***, and be slow.

In the UK it is below 11 at 2 hours, not 8.5.
Yes, the NHS reasoning does make sense for the reasons you gave. Your doctor's reasoning does not make sense.

I wrote on this forum a few days back. My symptoms are getting worse and am losing more weight. When laying in bed I feel like my muscle mass in disappearing, muscles moving themselves. I feel bad after eating. I only eat protein and fats, removed almost all carbs.

I called up a doctor I know back in my country and she was horrified hearing the GTT result of 13.8. She was relieved to know that my fasting glucose and hba1c is normal. she said it is likely autoimmune type 1 and I will get rapidly worse if endo is not getting to see me.

How can I cope with this? I told my GP to immediately refer me to endo and he seemed receptive but how long will it take? My pancreas could die in the meantime and I go into coma or something ...

Please advice me on what to do, how to get to specialist asap because stuff is getting worse every day. Yesterday, I could not walk 500 m without getting out of breathe completely. My pulse was 150 and I was having an almost heart attack.
Have you had your Thyroid levels tested Triceraptors? You need to know the level of FT3 especially. Wish you well.

I had thyroid tests recently. They seem to be fine.

Below 11 is pre-diabetes and it could just mean still diabetic but pancreas is "good enough" for now.

Urgent referral to endocrinologist happened: I was questioned for an hour. I lost even more weight since yesterday. Endocrinologist tested my blood for acidosis, which was okay. Fasting BG was 4.8 and I was given type 1 diabetes tests. I pretty resigned to my fate now ...

It seems a little odd that she gave you the T1 tests with a fasting of 4.8, but hey ho.
What fate are you anticipating?

What are the type 1 diabetes tests you have been given?
