What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning all. 8.2 at 7.25 am. Arrived home last night after settling mum into bed to find the ceiling and cornice above our dining room window bulging. Discovered a leak in the bathroom above. Leak "temporarily" sorted and water released but now have paper hanging down and a mess to clear up. Just what we needed on top of everything else! Not the end of the world but not good timing either. Have a good day one and all.:)
Oooh hope you get it sorted

Hi@karen8967
Before I found this site I always used honey and squeezed lemon juice in hot water for chesty coughs it was so soothing but not wanting to spike my BG I've not had any honey for 2 years, but I still drink hot lemon juice in a morning mainly has a gout deterant but it helps with breaking down chesty cough problems. But the honey soothed the throat miss it, don't know if I had some honey with lemon juice in hot water how BG would react, suppose I should try it again and see by testing?K

Evening everyone
Roasted veg with smoked bacon for my evening meal BG before meal 5.3
2hours after food 7.9
Thanks very much for all your ideas to relive this cough, I've tried today steam inhalation very good, then vic rub on back and chest after a hot bath, then Olbus oil drops x3 in jug boiled water to use for steam inhalation, also very good but I think I'm going to try honey and lemon in hot water and see how it reacts with my BG but I know it is soothing, so wish me luck it doesn't spike me too much?K

You should try inhaling steam to help relieve your cough/sore chest
Hi@Ymdawd it really does work but I'm dripping after 10 mins even with some breaks, just tried it with olbas oil drops in water also good. I've tried a few suggestions today I was at the end of my tether with it all, very grateful to everyone who sent me things to try. Actually managed a couple of hours sleep this afternoon propped up on pillows on settee so felt ever so slightly better after waking, well it did help better than no sleep. Look after yourselves wrap up warm! K

Sleep is a great healer, if not the best healer of all.

Fasting BG was 5.9 this morning which is a really good result for me as it's been averaging 7.3. I think what helped bring it down was not having any supper and nothing to eat after 6.00pm. Test just before bed was 4.9. Post-breakfast (full English!) BG was 6.7.

Well I went along to the dietitian today well don’t mean to sound ungrateful of such things being available to us but she was not much help she couldn’t get her head around my ratio of 1.5 units to 10g of carbs i was shocked she asked so how much insulin would you inject then for 60g of carbs I said 9 units on a 1.5 to 10g ratio bearing in mind of no correction dose I honestly come away feeling like I knew more about diabetes and diets than she did I mean I’ve only been diagnosed since 13th October and yes I’ve done a hell of a lot of studying this condition and reading how everybody reacts differently but blimey she was talking like we’re all robots and we all react the same to foods and other things what get chucked are way but I must mention she was a nice woman but I’ll stick to getting my knowledge from this thread done me proud up to now

GG...when we're unwell we have to prioritise...doubt one or two doses of honey & lemon would do you any harm in the circumstances...if it enables you to get some decent sleep...then any temporary spike is justified... nothing worse than not getting restful sleep when we're poorly...since you're testing...you can keep an eye on your BGS...lack of sleep...constant coughing...if the honey & lemon would help stop/soothe that... as you say why give not try it.

BG of 4.6 at 2.04am
The weather here in Scotland is awful. Drivng conditions going north are not good at all. ☹️
Blimey Ymdawd...you're up early...or late?...sounds horrendous...take great care on those roads...the weather has started to 'kick off' here...dreading it...but...always find it worse when I'm driving/travelling up north.

Sobo...my knowledge of insulin use is woefully poor...however...I do relate to your experience...I did attend an education course for type 2s...a DESMOND course...by the time I attended I'd been diagnosed seven months...I found the dietary advice given there archaic...the notorious 'eat well' was promoted heavily...more carbs...no need to test...by that time I'd read/researched about my diabetes...knew the importance of testing...eating less carbs...laboured on the course until lunch time...spoke to the educator...she felt I was too advanced for the course...and wouldn't benefit...we agreed there was no point in my staying for the afternoon session...I have heard some say the Xpert course is better...however if I followed the advice from the course I attended...I'd do believe I'd be in real difficulties now...as you say we are all different...what works for one may not work for another...why is it so difficult to have that acknowledged?

Morning...set off for work yesterday at 12:30...got home around 21:30...ate hardly anything...just half a sandwich...had some follow up phone calls to make...sat down in the 'big phat comfy chair 'just for five minutes...promptly fell asleep from 22:00 to 02:45...so not officially been to bed yet...dreading my waking numbers this morning...managed a 5.1...relieved...strangely my fit bit tells me I had a better sleep last night than I have had for a couple of weeks...grateful for that...coffee needed right NOW.
