Too many question I will have time to answer, but this explains why I came to this forum:
I tried to see an alternative to diabetic solutions instead of medical in a hospital. It was a long sales pitch, so I turned it off and searched for other opinions on that report, which I found here.
I have no threat of diabetes, but learned from experience of prostate cancer to avoid both sugar and dairy products. I often tell people "The most dangerous addictive drug in the world is SUGAR!"
I am often opposed to our United States medical system. Yes, I know it saves lives, but we have personal responsibility for safety and food, not the doctor. (If I believed doctors I would have been dead already four times.) Therefore reading other comments on this subject, I am interested in joining into it, but will have not time every day.
I will try to upload my health history

Hi I am Corina, the mother of a type 1 b diabetic. I noticed the problem in May but he has only now been diagnosed as a type 1b.
Derek is 4 years old. As a less common form of diabetes I am looking for information about diet, treatment, cause the usual things I guess :)
We have a great Dr here in South Africa who considers the patient as a whole which for me works.
Derek is on Novo Rapid and Levimir.

For the job and children, did you ever have time to rest?
Not a lot, luckily I don't have all 5 at once; the twins live in Hertfordshire but the other 3 are fairly local
I'm trying to be good with eating just now as my blood sugar was up and I've been advised by the nurse to cut down on carbs

Hi beautiful people! My name is Sara, 38 years old and I’m an Italian living in London UK (I’ll upload a picture as profile) I’m madly in love with my English husband and our little cat Lulu. I work in cutting edge technology for VFX, managing research projects. I have degrees in Fine Arts, Computer Science and Music. I adore traveling, listening to Opera and all types of music (as long as it’s really played with instruments, not laptops!). I am not loyal to any flags or tribe and don’t like to get angry, but if it comes to animal rights, I can be pretty badass. I wish I had more time to go to the cinema, but then there aren’t those wonderful films anymore! I believe the solution to most problems can be found after a good long run, I believe in science and information. My motto in like is mens sana in corpore sano.

As a Certified LCHF Coach, I follow much on this forum. A few people are beginning to learn the correct lifestyle to achieve good health. While I may not give advice, I am able to comment or suggest things. I was trained by The Real Meal Revolution from Cape Town.
In South Africa, the word banting has become both a verb and an acronym for LCHF, hence my avatar as Banting Coach.

Do you give free advice for lchf diet?

Hi, I’m Audrey. Newly diagnosed Type 2. Find it all very confusing at the moment but really interested in trying the Low Carb approach. Can anyone advise me of how many carbs I should be aiming for daily. I’m going to buy a blood glucose monitor tomorrow to keep track myself as I won’t be recalled to diabetic clinic for another 3 months.

You will probably get a better response Waterlily if you post your own post in the ‘Newly Diagnosed’ section of the Forum, than a comment hidden away in this ‘Greetings and Introductions’ thread. That’s what I did when I was first diagnosed and I was showered with oodles of help.

Hello People,
I'm Trevor, age 43 live in the UK and just found out yesterday im type 2 diabetic. spent a week in hospital over xmas for chest pain and they done my blood sugars which were on average of 14.2 even though I was nil by mouth. seen doctors and he done tests and confirmed im diabetic. im 6.2 and about 108kg bmi of I think 30. im fairly disabled with a variety of health problems and not really mobile. due to my conditions I can eat only certain foods , others I have an intolerance to them, I eat on average of 800-1000 carbs a day as per docs instructions. it has scared me finding out and to add another condition to my already existing ones. what do I expect to happen from the doctors/NHS?? I was told they would make an appointment with diabetic nurse but that could take a while. im getting a blood sugar monitor form my niece as she is type 1 to monitor myself until I see the nurse.
im on a lot of meds and they have caused me to put on weight from 10.5 stone to now nearly 17 stone but I need the meds so im at a bit of a loss on what I need to /should do and expect
thanks

OK. Here goes.
The names Mike and I'm 66 yrs old. Live in the UK and have done all my life. I'm not going to answer that load of silly questions about me and my life.
I'm newly diagnosed as Type 2 in August 2017 following the usual annual MOT at my local doctors. I had a phone call asking me to make an appointment with the nurse. All a bit worrying to start with. I've since been to see the DSN and she informs me that with my readings of HbA1C 48 that I'm type 2 Diabetic. All a bit scary ! She tells me I have to change my life style and stop eating and drinking all the stuff on her list. Turns out that I don't eat or drink anything on her list. She then proceeds to tell me to cut down on my alcohol consumption - I haven't had a drink for the last 35 yrs ! I've got to stop smoking - I don't smoke and haven't since 2006. I'm really getting confused now.

Thats par for the course
