Hello everyone! I had a few questions that I was helping you could answer!

Iv had some symptoms that I was thinking could possibly be diabetes related.

Including
Unfocused vision

Light headedness

Tired

High blood pressure

Fast heart rate

Dry mouth in morning

Increase thirst

And awhile ago I had a UTI

I'm a 22 year old male in good shape only 135 lbs.

I recently got a blood meter today it's a true metrix by mckesson

I have not yet gotten to test my fasting blood sugar but I did test it 2x after eating

This AM I had an apple and 2 tbs of PB took a reading about 2 hrs later and got 106.

Later I ate lunch ( 2 cups mixed veggies, 1 cuo brown rice and some tofu) tested it 2 hours after I completely finished the meal an it was 130.

I am just looking for some imput as to what exactly I should check for?

It just seems alot of my symptom line up with type 2.

I have no family hiatory i know of either.

Thanks for any help!!:)

Your gluclose readings are extremely high and those and some of your symptoms are associated with diabetes, but the only way to get a reliable diagnosis is to see a qualified medic.

As above
We can't diagnose you on the forum.
You shouldn't try to self diagnose via the www.
The information you have given suggests that you should be seeking expert medical advice sooner rather than later.

Hi @powerpunk5000 we cannot diagnose. It appears that you figures are MG/DL, which in the UK for your measurements are 5.8 and 7.2; these are not by any means off of the scale (mine were 20 plus). You should see your health care professional asap, as if you are diabetic it could be Type 1 or 2. If you are neither then you will at least be closer to a diagnosis of whatever.

In fact with the symptoms you have described could you contact your health services now. I am not being alarmist, but you have described a lot of symptoms, so better safe.

Are you in the USA or Canada? (as you mentioned measurements in cups.)

I think these are in mg/dL units not mmol/L so look normal for a non diabetic.

I'm from the USA so I'm using mg/dl
Are those numbers still high?

no they are not very high the 7.2 is just a little up. but if that was your only issue then i would not worry. however your other symptoms need checking soon.

You are testing at the wrong time, it should be 2 hours after starting to eat, not finishing.
You really need to get a test done by a doctor to discover your Hba1c - that is the diagnostic process, but those readings seem to be fairly normal.

Your bg levels are certainly not high, but your symptoms are worth looking into with your family doctor.

Ok! I just ate dinner and timed it 2 hours from when i started. ( whole wheat pasta tomato sauce and spinach)
It came back 126mg/dl

Does my food choices affect it tho? Is it high because I'm really not eating food high in sugar?

I went to a emergency doctor the other day and he didn't seem super concered. But I'm gonna fallow up with my primary care after the weekend just to get things checked over.

Type two diabetics who keep control through diet eat low carb foods - it is not just sugary food which causes problems, but my blood glucose would be much higher than that if I was to eat pasta.
I think that you should speak to your doctor about the symptoms you have, but the levels you report are not very high - there could be some other problem, but high blood sugars don't seem to be it.

Are you on any medication or special diet? Has your blood pressure changed a lot recently?

I eat a vegetarian diet . i was on prednisone for a few days but stopped taking it 3 or 4 days ago.

I took my blood sugar today upon waking up and it did seem high. I took it 2x back to back.

102 mg/dl

105 mg/dl

I think it's suppose to be under 100 mg/dl correct?

Prednisone raises blood sugar, this is normally temporary. What ever you were taking them for also may raise blood sugar which may fall again naturally reducing your symptoms. Can I suggest you stop testing for 2 weeks at least and give your body time to recover and repair.

I was only on it for 3 days
40 mg 40 mg 30mg

And have been off it prob for 4-5 days?

How accurate are the home meters?

If a normal non-diabetic is suppose to be under 100 mg/dl and mine was 102 and 105 could that be contribute to accuracy of meter?

Sorry for all the questions guys. I'm just a young guy and try to be extremely healthy and am a bit of a hypochondriac lol.
