What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Me too, my BMI is circa 25.5, but I am around 10% body fat. If my BMI went to 27 and I was at 8% body fat, I would be delighted.

The BMI discussion is timely for me because Monday is official weekly weigh-in day (keeps me honest with my weekend diet).
I'm happy today because I'm at 93.3kg which is over 8kg down on my "start weight" of 101.5kg. on 14 May
But BMI brings out the angry goldfish in me....
According to BMI, 101.5kg was officially "overweight"
So I lose 8kg and according to BMI, I am still "overweight". In fact I can lose 14kg overall and still be BMI "Overweight".
The BMI spans are too wide to offer any kind of motivational reward. Nor is it a deterrent - if someone creeps up 14kg in weight without their classification changing they are less likely to change their habits. Maybe the system isn't meant to be motivational, because they are medical definitions, but I think we'd encourage more people to lose weight if the gradings were more frequent.
Grrrrrrrr (or whatever noise goldfish make).

Just started my metformin 1 tablet twice a day after 7 days I gonna start the 2 tablets twice a day Its getting down though the highest I had was 18.6 is it very very high?

Agree with all the poster here re BMI @Mbaker , @rhubarb73 and @Terrytiddy. Just looking at the BMI of say Owen Farrell or any All Black centre would put them v high BMI but waist to height ratio would be v good. My personal BMI was 21.6 last Tuesday at annual check and waist to height spot on .5. The waist to height ratio is far harder to hit and never mentioned or checked at reviews. Anyhow, them's my onions (very old in gag from a Spurs fans message board)

Hi @Manel To me the question is less about the 18.6 high or low than how good is the progress 18.6 to 12.1. That is a huge drop - (33%? I am hopeless at maths) so should really ask how good is my progress? The answer is excellent so keep going.

Hi everyone a newbie here so stressed and worried tested this morning with a 12.1
Welcome. Are you T1 or T2 (or other?). I'm quite new too (6 weeks). There is loads of great advice on this site to help you.
Don't be alarmed looking at other people's numbers, as someone new to condition you should focus on starting to get control of your own condition. Read up on this site and you'll find lots to help you.
I can't give you advice but I can tell you my approach, which is consistent with many others: low carb diet, increased my weekly exercise 20-30%, pin-testing my blood regularly before and 2 hrs after meals to see what does what to my readings.
So far for me it is working, but it may take time to get to target levels: it's a marathon not a sprint.
The Newly Diagnosed forum is great for comparing with other newly diagnosed people (although you'll find everyone on this bit are hugely supportive as well).

Hi @Manel, welcome to the forum. Don't get stressed. 18.6 is on the high side, but you have done well to bring it down to 12.1.
If you are Type 2 you should consider adopting a Low Carbohydrate High Fat (lchf) approach to eating. Many of us on here have found it has reduced our blood glucose levels.
Have a read round the threads to see how it works and ask any questions you want.

If you test frequently it will give you a better picture as what foods work for you, as stated above don't worry about other people's readings.

Book a follow up appointment with your diabetic doctor and discuss your results with the doctor. From personal experience I have never had consistent advice from diabetic nurses. Therefore I ignore everything the nurses say.

Read the advice on the forum and think about things before implementing anything.

Good night all just getting ready for bed my BG is 8.2 but I just wanted to ask about something that happened today so at lunchtime today I had some super noodles I had 5 units of novorapid with it because that’s what my nurse told me to do pre lunch I was 6.0. 2 hours later I was 6.4 at this point I was feeling a bit sick so I took a sickness tablet which always makes me sleepy my mum woke me at 4.30 for dinner and when I checked I was 10.8 has anyone got any idea why this happed? Thanks everyone have a nice night
