What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning all. 4.5 today.

@Debandez sure you know it already, but whether the codefree readings are higher or lower, it’s the trends that are important and you’ll come to understand your new normal! I use the codefree and contrary to the (what seems to be) accepted wisdom on here, I don’t find it reads high at all. Sure your wallet will appreciate the switch!

Good morning from a very misty Fenland hideaway, usually this start means a very hot day in Summer or early autumn. 5.3 just so you know @alf_Josiah ok itself but no ringing endorsement of OMAD by my body. However, this weather is almost perfect for a string of such days so I can tweak things and observe. Resting pulse has come off of Sunday's high but above 60 so not right and sleep about 30 mins below target.
I may have given too much information there but I fervently believe the whole picture is key to managing this condition hence my chagrin over last few weeks as things are awry. As a result my bg levels are not where they are when my body more closely resembles a finely tuned machine (as much as a 63 year old body which has had abuse can). Long post but if it helps someone put frustrating readings into context I will be satisfied.

@Goonergal I got a 4.8 this morning so I'm happy with that. My tee2 reads a lot higher in a test I did. Wasn't a happy bunny. It's psychological haha.

Good night all just getting ready for bed my BG is 8.2 but I just wanted to ask about something that happened today so at lunchtime today I had some super noodles I had 5 units of novorapid with it because that’s what my nurse told me to do pre lunch I was 6.0. 2 hours later I was 6.4 at this point I was feeling a bit sick so I took a sickness tablet which always makes me sleepy my mum woke me at 4.30 for dinner and when I checked I was 10.8 has anyone got any idea why this happed? Thanks everyone have a nice night
It depends on the amount of carbs in the food you eat how much insulin you take, noodles are quite high in carbs and require more insulin than an omelette, bacon , mushrooms, you will have to work out your insulin to carb ratio and this will be a bit of trial and error ie, if you're insulin to carb ratio was 2 to 10 for every 10 grams of carbs you eat you will need 2 units of fast acting insulin, there's an app for your phone called carbs and Cal's , you can enter what you eat and it adds up the amount of carbs calories, protein, fat in that food, you can then see if the amount of insulin you take for that meal was too much or too little or just right, hope this helps. Ask your DSN about carb counting

Yesterday for me was a bit of a recovery day after Sundays celebration. My sugar levels all day were close to five but supper was after 8Pm and this morning I had a 6.3 reading...... Still the sun is shining , its warm enough to wear shorts and a tee shirt and I'm hoping to get lots done. Have a great day if you possibly can

good morning all :)

4.4 today

did a nice couple of hours gardening at mum's yesterday and improved my vitamin D ;) perhaps we'll have an outing today since the weather is continuing to be warm and sunny.

@ianpspurs - :hilarious: bit of both really, mr. gee found the ice cream maker lying around ebay, having been used a few times only and bought it, on the quiet, as a pressie for me. He was so pleased when we were able to eat ice cream together on holiday after we found that little artisan ice cream parlour with the 'sugar free' ice cream.

Anybody tried making ice cream using a custard style recipe (with egg) and did it work out ok?

mr. gee's request of 'rum and raisin' is next on the list, the raisins are soaking with the rum as I type ;)

@geefull Excellent fbg once again:) That was a nice present, what a thoughtful chap Mr G is! I haven't tried the Gelato type yet but I just googled a recipe and it sounds like a goer http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/14177/creamy-gelato.aspx especially as we get 9 eggs a day!
