Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

2.8
Is this ok, I was only diagnosed with type 2 last week, so I have no idea ?
8.0 I'm new to this. Still not sure what normal is.
What should it be . I am newly diagnosed and confused .Is 5.9 high or what?
Welcome to the forum @Beckyeva827, @Cellogirl45 and @Mark2905!
Type 2 diabetics should aim for a fasting blood glucose reading of between 4-7.

@Beckyeva827 Anything below 4 can lead to hypos, and also you shouldn't be driving.
@Cellogirl45 8 is a bit high, but you should be able to lower it.
@Mark2905 5.9 is good. Anything between 4-7 is ok.

5.9 Good Morning All
Hello and welcome, I see someone has already arranged for the welcome pack for you :)
I second the advice from @ianpspurs this forum and selected threads are a good place to gain an insight and to find helpful information, guidance and lots of support and motivation, just remember we are all different and there isn’t a one size fits all. Some things work well for lots of us and some things only work for certain individuals, you won’t know what will or won’t work for you until you try and test.
The temptation to compare your numbers to others can sometimes be a little bit of a bad thing, there are lots of things to take into consideration, especially if there is medication involved or not. Let your instinct and body guide you. As already said you will notice great variations in numbers on this thread and you will see that someone with a number that you yearn for disappoints them and another member may have a number that would be considered high for yourself but they are over the moon with.
The one thing we do all have in common is this condition, I don’t like referring to it as an illness, especially because I don’t feel ill, in fact I feel better than I have done for years, I’ve lost weight, have control of my BG, have more energy and have made lots of friends.
