Feeling Sick And Don't Know What's Wrong

I have been feeling sick for 2 days now, not wanting to eat, drinking a lot. I am still taking my insulin, but lower doses. I can not afford to go to the doctors, that's even if I get in, in the first place.

I have nausea, upper stomach pain, lower stomach pain, not being sick, but not being able to eat anything. I don't have a fever but my forehead is hot, not all the time but sometimes throughout the day. I don't know what's wrong, I know I am hungry but everytime I look at food I feel sick and refuse to eat it. I am drinking a lot, water, squash, flat fizzy.

Can anyone help? Like I said, I CANNOT afford to go to the doctors, and even if I could afford it, I wouldn't get in, also I AM NOT going to hospital!

Just keep drinking as much as you can and test your blood glucose and ketones every two hours.....

keep taking your basal insulin as well as any bolus corrections.....

if ketones are present then they will need bolus insulin to be dealt with....

have you checked ketones before?

Hello @Alex_B Sorry to hear you are unwell.

As Novorapidboi has said you need to test for ketones, from your symptoms you sound like you're running high, if you want to avoid the doctors and hospital then getting your levels down to a more manageable level will help, lower doses of insulin isn't going to help if this is the case.

Any reason why you cannot afford to go to the doctors ?

@Juicyj My mum wants to save up for the holiday we are going to in 3 weeks and as I have not been well she wants to make it a great holiday for me, to cheer me up as my mental health is playing games with me again. She has also not been well, same issue as me, we don't know if its just a bug that is going around. But we're both pretty much in the wars, we make a good pair! :nurse: We are both looking after each other right now lol

Glad to hear you've got a holiday planned @Alex_B :)

Hopefully it's a short lived bug and will do one soon, but don't be afraid of a GP visit if this doesn't go away, i'd rather be fit and healthy for my hols. How are your BG levels doing at the moment ?

What the others have said, but also, how are your water works, @Alex_B ? I recently had a bit of a UTI and I felt queasy and off my food. I needed antibiotics to clear that up, so don't be too brave, in case it's something that could simply be put right.

Feeling off isn't going to help your mental health either.

I hope you feel better soon.

@DCUKMod I think I might have pancreatitis. I have pain above my bellybutton and its tender to touch and hurts if I did touch it. I am going to speak to my mum about this and see about going to the doctors just to check to make sure it isn't.

Oh heck. Checking it all out makes all manner of sense.

Fingers crossed for you.
