My finger says 5.6 but Libre says 9.2 and going up, finger says 4.9 and Libre says 2.9 (and level), etc.
Hi, Helen, are you getting that sort of randomness all the time or just once in a while? I'm wondering whether it's sensor "noise", which happens every now and then when the filament moves around.
I've put a pic below showing an example of noise.
Most of the day, on the lower 24 hr graph, it's trotting along nicely from 9am to 11pm - each 5 min blue dot has a broad relationship to the ones before and after it.
But in the upper graph covering 3am to 8am, it goes crazy between 4am to 4:45 am before settling down until another dingbat hour between 7am and 8am.
I don't believe that it was bouncing around between 6 and 8 in the early hours in such a short period. Some of the bounces and drops show a change of 2 in 5 mins.
When I see that sort of stuff, I write it off as noise, the occasional randomness we get with cgm from time to time.
That sort of stuff is quite easy to see on 5 min dotted graphs, but not so much on the libre reader or app graphs, because they smooth out to make a line graph from averages.
So you might not necessarily see the errant noisy readings on the graph itself, just the spot scan readings.
A new libre reading is available every minute or so, so I wonder whether it would be worthwhile doing a whole series of scans every couple of minutes for an extended period, then reading them back from the logbook instead of looking at the graph.
Before I blinged my libre with the transmitter, and was just using the reader, I'd get some scan readings which just didn't make sense - they were total outliers compared to the last few. So I ended up doing several in a row over the next few minutes. It turned out to be quite common to have situations where I'd be generally running at, say, 5 or 6, and then there would be an unexplained 8, but when I scanned a few times later over the next 10 mins or so, it would be back in line at 5 or 6, so I reckoned the 8 was just noise and ignored it.
Because the reader graph is made from averages, it is difficult to spot noise, easier seeing it in logbook numbers, and much easier with 5 min dots on cgm.
