I just came back from trying on clothes in the thrift shop. Six years ago, when I first moved here, a new neighbor gave me a pair of jeans that she couldn't wear anymore, having lost weight. I could just barely get into them, and couldn't button or zip them up.
Last April I was diagnosed T2, and lost 25 pounds over the summer. Now the jeans I couldn't even get into 6 years ago are way too big so I went shopping to see what size I wear now. The first pair I tried on were 2 sizes smaller and I could button and zip them but they are too tight to breathe in. The second pair was one size larger than the first pair, and fit, snugly, but fit.
So I came home feeling positive. I've only lost about half the weight I want to lose, and I don't like having a nice pair of jeans I can't wear anywhere, but I love that the reason I can't wear them is that instead of being too small to button, they are too big to stay up!
I will be donating them to the thrift shop once I replace them.
