Help needed from keen LC bakers! I'm needing to restock my cupboards and interested in where everyone gets their baking supplies. I've been buying bits and bobs here and there, but I don't think it's that cost effective. Where will I find the following things at a reasonable price. I'm willing to buy in bulk in reason, but we haven't got a huge amount of space.

Erythritol
Inulin
Liquid stevia
LC syrup (e.g maple flavour, vanilla, etc)
Whey Protein Isolate
Psyllium husk powder
Flaxseed
Chia seed
Coconut flour
Ground almonds
Whole nuts

Thanks! :)

Trawl the web. I get lots of stuff from Amazon. I particularly like their superfine blanched almond flour but it is much higher carb content than the normal almond meal. Look at the carbs before you add to your basket.

One of these days a chain of low carb cafes and restaurants might start up?

I was out today at a softplay park for children and the food there was standard British snacking fare and then also for vegetarians, vegans, there was halal, gluten free and lactose free food there too. But no low carb.

I'd love to start one. Any investors out there listening? ;)

Thanks. You've confirmed my initial findings regarding the nuts particularly. Supermarket prices are comparable to other online suppliers, unless you can buy in ridiculous volume.

I use Amazon for psyllium husk flour, coconut flour and soy flour, but get ground almonds, desiccated coconut, whole nuts, milled seeds and other seeds from supermarkets, Lidl Tesco and Aldi and Sainsburys once in a while.
I use quite a bit of sugar free jelly and gelatine and get that from supermarkets too.

Mainly Morrisons, Ocado, Amazon, occasionally eBay , and rarely other online sources if I find somewhere cheap. It's probably worth checkjng Holland and Barrett, and possibly Sukrin's UK site for price comparisons/offers.

(But half of the stuff on your list I never buy...)

So far (only beginning here), I’ve bought everything but my oat fiber at my regular shopping store. Oat fiber at Amazon bc I am too lazy and time crunched to make a special trip across the river to the local non-chain whole, organic, and natural foods store.

Erythritol I get from Amazon

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Natural-Erythritol-Granulated-Calorie-Replacement/dp/B01BDTLL7W

You might also be interested in monkfruit sweetener - good for caramels and cheaper than inulin . Can only find the Amazon link right now, which is a bit more pricey, but I know that @maglil55 has a cheaper source, the link for which I can’t find

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lakanto-Natural-Sweetener-Diabetics-Aftertaste/dp/B07N2ZVC5G

Flaxseed, chia seed, ground almonds I get from various supermarkets. Doesn’t seem to be a lot of difference in price.

For cocoa, Lidl’s brand is the lowest carb I’ve found (8.7g/100g) and pretty cheap.

This is a useful resource

Hi I too am another Amazon user - it’s the free delivery and generally lower prices. I do sometimes get some things at local health food stores but always costs so much more for the specialist stuff! Also with things like psyllium husk you need the blond Version - I like to double check with reviews that it dosent turn things purple on baking! Harder to check in shops with small print!
Seeds of all varieties ,nuts, cocoa mainly from Lidl or whichever supermarket has good offer! Ground almonds and cocoa seems to be good value in Lidl find in baking supplies and Lidl cocoa is also the lowest carb of all I’ve looked at.
I now need a special low carb baking cupboard!!

No. I do have an account with Lucky Vitamin but they are US based so you have to watch the addition of duty/taxes/shipping etc.
For Monk Fruit I use this

https://mydiet-shop.co.uk/search?co...osition&orderway=desc&search_query=Monk+fruit

UK based and they are good for the syrups as well. The Lakanto maple syrup sub is excellent. It's another good site and I always check it against Amazon.
Like others , I use Amazon for quite a few things due to the Prime membership and free shipping. However, since most of what we use are Amazon Marketplace it's worth checking against the suppliers own web site. One example NKD living

https://www.nkdliving.com/collections/fibre-supplement#menu

I use their inulin amongst other things and shipping is free above £25. So long as you are buying enough it's cheaper than Amazon for the same product.

Another is Sevenhills

https://www.sevenhillswholefoods.com/about/

I use their psyllium husk (it doesn't turn purple). Both Sevenhills and NKD trade on Amazon but as I said it's always worthwhile checking their own sites.

There is also the site I mentioned the other day on the other thread.

https://www.avidlite.co.uk

Very low carb orientated and the make the carb content clear. Again they do the syrups and I've brought quite a few things from them over the last 10 years. I have had some items that were not good (The Joseph lemon biscuits will stay with me a long time - yuk) but other things are fine and you get season specific items.

So a lot on Amazon but check the suppliers sites otherwise my diet shop and avidlite are other favourites.

I’ve got a drawer ( pan one) which is getting fuller and messier all the time but need to reorganise my cupboards!
I've got a double wall cupboard, the 2 smaller cupboards either side of the cooker hood and part of the pan drawer! All thankfully reorganised now.

That paleo pantry is an interesting site. Interesting info about how the alternative "flours" behave.

Yes. I used it when converting the lemon zucchini cake recipe: it was originally a recipe using ordinary flour which a friend posted on Facebook but thought it could be adapted.
