How Many Carbs do You Limit Yourself to Per Day?

Interestingly I've found that liver makes me trump like a good 'un whereas just muscle meat far less.. no idea why..

Trump.....

that was the word I was "reaching" for.....

too many -OH groups on a sunday night....

I have not had a count up for a long time, as a guesstimate I reckon I would be close to 150 grams a day.

My bgl and hba1c are doing well, and my weight is steady at around 95 Kgs. bmi is good at 25.2

Legend! @Tipetoo.

Super low for me too, all green veg. Sprouts, leeks, spinach, etc. I am gradually increasing my protein and fat. Now finding OMAD very effective.

I want to say 10, but I do have a soft spot for Greek yog and peanuts so probably under 20/day as a being really honest. I have been dipping my toe in pure meat, yesterday was just donner meat (yeah I know) for my evening meal, that day could well have been a proper zero.

For me its the carbs effect, not bg now as much. Anything carby, even a handful of blueberries as breakfast hits me like most people get affected by alcohol. Slow witted and sleepy. The less I eat the better I feel. Simple.
Dipping your toe in pure meat? :D

Nice set of stats. Thanks.

I don't usually do a per day count but rather per meal. I avoid spikes this way. Bear in mind that we are all different with different tolerance levels. Not all carbs are equal either. Personally, I try to restrict each meal to under 20g. If it is mostly low GI carbs and it has been verified with my meter I will allow 30g. Generally, most meals are well below this as this is the maximum. Birthdays and Xmas I push it a little bit.

You will note that this is high for some members but lower than others. It is highly personal. The important thing is exhaustive testing of responses with your meter so that you know exactly how certain foods react. I find other complications as well. For instance, if my meal is high in fat content the rise in BG is smaller but lasts longer.

I also find that different people respond differently to identical foods. I can happily have 40g of porridge for breakfast a couple of mornings a week ( must be traditional rolled oats, not that instant muck ). That's 24g of carbs and about 6g for the milk. No problem for me but one of my good mates has his BG into outer space with the same thing. Conversely, he can eat a bunch of grapes with impunity. Grapes sends my BG off the planet. Guess to best rule is "Eat to your meter". If you don't have one, get one.

Have fun,
Glenn

I don't think it should be considered "limiting" as to be really effective low carbing needs to be a way of life and looked at in that way.

I don't count as I can't really be bothered. I have found a way of life that suits me and keeps my T2D under my control. It's working currently, but I'm not stupid enough to assume it will work forever.

Under 30g if I can manage it. Very occasionally it's around 35g. No weight loss but I'm struggling to eat enough calories (manage 600) so body must be holding on to my extra weight

Probably between 100 and 120 per day but some days are ‘carbier’ than others.
