Good morning folks. We had a visitor last night. My sister in law is a foster carer and we had her little charge over for the night to give her a bit of respite. What fun.
Anyhow, a 5.7 on the treadmill of bewilderment and fascination at 0800 this morning.
Decorators have arrived to paint the woodwork at the front of the house.
@karen8967 enjoy your last day at work and all the best with the new one.
Have a great day if you can and remember, the word “swims” is still “swims” even if its upside down.
thanks dunelm x

over selling.... oh so many things are enthusiastically oversold
@OrsonKartt the ‘best diabetic dietician’ genuinely was that. She apologised for it taking 6 months for an appointment and has said the problem with that is that she has nothing to tell me as my last Hba1c was so good. We spoke in depth about low carb - if I’d seen her straight after diagnosis she would have advised low carb. She discussed that some people find it hard to maintain long term and so to bare in mind that if I were to gain weight and go back to eating what I did before my numbers would most likely go back up. She spent the appointment just singing my praises and saying I was a success story - which feels a little fraudulent to be honest. Maybe if I can keep these levels for the next 10yrs I’ll accept that statement.
She did rather alarmingly say my doctor has written on my notes - diabetes cured!! She stressed this wasn’t the case, and that it would be diabetes in remission as is only down to this way of eating. I’m even dubious to class it as remission after only 1 blood test since diagnosis. My next one is due end of this month and then she said they’ll likely go to 18month bloods just to monitor. Concerned now as I get discount at my local gym as ticked the box as health condition where exercise helps - which is what my doctor told me to do in the beginning!! Now he’s written cured all over my notes if they check on me will I be in trouble?! Going to book an apppintment with my GP for after my next bloods to tell him he’s a fool and that I don’t want cured stated on my file!
I think you have great attitude and a very realistic approach to this whole thing. I have a "cured" sticker on my notes too .... doesn't mean a thing, well maybe it gives them a sense of something ....... My very best thoughts to you !

Please don't tell him he is a fool idiot is a far better description.

Though this could be a time when discretion would be the best part of valor. :)

4.9 this Monday morning. I have an appointment today with ‘the most amazing diabetic dietician’. I’ve had to wait 6 months (since diagnosis) got the appointment as she’s that in demand. Will be interesting to see what wonderful advice she is going to bestow upon me

Will be interested to hear about that.

Editing to say should have read whole thread before responding. Sounds like a great appointment.

An Interesting read, @Debandez

It sort of firms up my personal belief that all the previous date re heart issues is more related to the raised sugar then the intake of fats.

The risk to diabetics (most but not all, most likely ) is more pronounced as we continued previously to carry on supplying ourselves with endless carbs on the EATWELL plate...and it's those SUGARS not the fats which raise our risks.

Raising our fats intake AND reducing the carbs....
now THOSE are the figures I'd be interested in seeing.

I'd be most interested to see the heart data for THAT.. among those practicing LCHF over the last FEW AND next few years

My money is on the data being similar to NON Diabetics In the general population.

My cholesterol went high in 2011. 7.9
Was lower in aug 2018 5.4.(1st DX)

higher in Oct 2019 5.6 (month + of EATWELL ). And since dropped to 5.3 jan 2019 . And other lipids trig's etc improved.

I hope and expect (plus a small prayer ;) ) similar improvements next HBA1c blood check
Hello there. You raise some goods points including the key issue of the carbs v. fats balance in a healthy diet.

Older folk may remember the LCHF Dr Atkins Diet Revolution (1980s). Medical profession didn't like it, said "fat burns in a fire of carbohydrate." LMAO.

Lost 2 stone on Atkins (1980s) and felt great. Sadly years of bad habits brought that weight back, and more.

I think we, on this forum, know better now about carbs/fats. But poor (dangerous?) advice persists from some HCPs.

And we welcome a new listener.. Hi @True Blue :)

Weatherwise it's a mixed bag..a few report snow the other side of the wall..(watford :hilarious:)
and down here in the beautiful south (;))
With London standing in for Westeros,
it's become hurricane alley over the last few days.
Winds are whipping across town as we speak..:woot:

So stay safe and wrapped upped,... is the message from the weather room.

Here in the studio, the FBG is a tad high at 6.3..late night snack to blame.

An item in the new today section caught my eye.

Seems a particular type is out there offering hot cross buns to the vulnerable among us..(but who hasn't been there :sorry: )
possibly in return for 'sexual favours' .

Seems one unlucky (lucky ?) listeners came a cropper.

Remember folks, if it LOOKS too good to be true..it probably is.
No such thing as a Free Lunch..So "JUST SAY NO ! " folks.
..
Police are conducting inquiries, due to the abhorrent nature of the crime,
but due to the recent plumbing issues at police HQ toilets, they have nothing to go on.

in sport Liverpool, chelsea and and the big one..Arsenal V Manu Utd all in action

And cheltenham coming up for the horse lovers among us...(@SaskiaKC )

And the next tune up, as suggested by eagle listener @alf_Josiah

one of my Favourites...Hotel California.

So Chill & Relax as you browse the boards.
and we Hope that today brings moments of joy.

Half past eleven and all's well. The waxing moon is white and hazy. When full it will be the Worm Moon according to one website, but tonight it looks more like a fuzzy bunny rabbit.

As for Shakespearean insults, Juliet called it "inconstant," but I have always found it to be a friend that comes and goes on a schedule I can count on.

A low 4.9 slid out of the meter trying to hide under my koffy mug, but I saw it.

Well folks what are your plans for today? I hope they involve a little naughtiness.
Of course me's and my mates chaos and mayhem have plans, bit strange as this involves no supervision by Mrs J. Leaving us to our own devices is great hehehehe.

Hoping to be in the local Gazette today. An article about patients helping patients. Working in the community together with my surgery and the council. Giving presentations on how lchf is excellent for controlling blood sugars and weight loss. Drumming up business :) working on my next presentation shortly (when I get time! ) focusing on the weight loss aspect this time. That should get them banging the doors down :)

Haven't got a clue what journalist has written!! Hope she gets it right!!

Have a great day everyone.

Check out the latest from Dr Mosley.
