What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Good morning folks 4.8 today, normally a cheese on toast score but alas, no bread in the house.
Hi there. Any particular bread choices? After my annual T2 review next week I plan to experiment BG outcomes of Lidl Low GI rolls, Burgen and others. Scrambled eggs don't seem quite right without the toast.

have to agree about the scrambled egg..ryvita is my go to, now.
and i add a few scoops/slices of avocado to the plate for the good fats.seems to fill me up for a good while.

as always, i'd say test on the meter...but it really is a portion control thing i've found for me..others may differ.

i bought the lidl gi rolls once in error after reading about the lidl low carbs..(which they no longer sell in uk )
scoffed two...reading afterwards was high

Hi-lo bread gets a good rating by many ...5g a slice
Not tried it as i can never find it in any of my local sainsbury's..:banghead:

even the burgen is around 11g a slice i think..ok if toasted, but oh so easy to have 'one more slice'...:sorry:
and i try to stay under 30g carbs per meal..so its 'do-able'...but as many say, it just encourages the lust for bread,.

i found it was the crunch i wanted, plus the mopping up ability of bread i missed the most.

used to love a boiled egg n toast
not had since DX..but some used asparagus...which for me is just 'no :***: '..(that seems like a food crime :wideyed: )
for me, its been ryvita..red quinoa type is 5.3 per slice.
slathered with butter it makes an acceptable addition to any breakfast..and i now normally only ever have the one.

Good luck..scores deffo looking good.:)

6.5 on another cloudy morning. Up before daylight again, but that's due to the "spring forward" time change of last Sunday.

@Bubbsie and @JohnEGreen when I used to get terrible cramps in my calf after hurting my back years ago I learned that straightening my leg and shoving down my heel helped. Those cramps started after I ruptured a lumbar disk.

I think the robe and cloak of Canning's statue may be to represent his support of the Greek War of Independence. His statue in Athens has him wearing a toga that bares his knees.

Catch up TV.
Frank B (Bad Blood) Glucose .V. JJ (Raak) MacNewbie

"..and we are now in round Seven of this exciting contest.

the boxers are in their corners, and just to recap.

ROUND one (pre 2018 DX)
saw Frank B (Bad Blood) Glucose, come out all confident and Knock challenger JJ (raak) MacNewbie
all around the ring, as FBG show-boated his abilities to inflict damage against the inexperienced and almost undefended newcomer..

Round two, three (Dx -6 weeks)
Once again Bad Blood, batters his opponent, seeming to be able to slice through the defences of the abject challenger at will..
The crowd are starting to get restless.

Those worries that THIS was perhaps a HUGE Mismatch, look to be coming true..can the Raak keep taking such punishment ?

( World Boxing Fight doctors had refused to sanction this fight, and it has had to take place here in Reno Nevada under the auspices of the F.L.L.I.. (Full Life, Limbs Intact) Boxing rules.)

Round 4 (dcuk - Jan 2019)
And there's drama in JJ's camp.
.
JJ is battered and bloodied, but is now gesticulating wildly to his corner
unbelievable..i do believe JJ has dismissed his trainer...outrageous scenes here, folks

And Yes folks you heard that right..,
Don Eetwell.has walked away and Angelo D'cuk has taken charge of the fight it seems for JJ..

he's now giving JJ his instructions..( is it possible, could anything D'Cuk, REALLY say now, inspire JJ to make anything of this fight ? )

And we're back in the ring..Bad Blood smirks to the crowd, he must feels this fight is almost over.

he slips one, two and then another laxy right into JJ, expecting to hit the target once again,
but this time, jj ducks in time and rising inside the Champs defences, then launches a ferocious flurry of punches of his own INTO the Champ..

AND the Champs is Hurt..YES he's stunned by that last blow..

he's backing up into the corner, covering up, using all that experience to get him to the bell,
but JJ is on him with another hammer blow, the Champs wobbles and ...JJ catches him with a swinging left

.....AND THE CHAMP is DOWN.

The Bell goes for the end of the round and it can't have come soon enough for the Champ, as he gets up and wobbles unsteadily to his corner, and drops down gratefully onto his stool

Ladies and Gentlemen we may have a Fight on our hands here.

The score cards read, the first 4 rounds easily to Bad Blood,
but i can hear the HBA1c judge saying that round was 42 to the challenger....

There out for round 5 Jan 1 - early march)
It looks like FBG has taken note of the newcomer at last, and he's probing just a little more cautiously now, the Show-boating has gone and it's all very Business like, for Bad Blood.

JJ circles the ring, trying to stay out for danger, but looks to be still on the prowl for opportunities to punish the Champ.
it's a little nervy out there with both fighters covering up well, and just a smattering of blows exchanged.

And the judges seem to think JJ has edged that round as well.

Round 6..March 1-March 14"
JJ looks fresh, but how much longer can he keep this pace up.
the Champ has been here many times before..going the distance won't bother Bad Blood, but for JJ that's an unknown quantity..

OOH and Bad Blood has just slipped inside JJ's wild shot and a quick combination of body shots and a glancing blow to the head, see's JJ drop to his knees, and the ref begins the count.

JJ's up again but he's hurt..Bad Blood has proved a point,
NO ONE disrespects him, even though the fights has deviated dramatically from the script,
he's shown he CAN and WILL, inflict damage on anyone who dares enter the ring, who gives just the slightest gap or weakness in their defences.

that round has gone convincingly to the Champ..judges scoring that 6.3 / 6.1/ 6.0

Round 7..(today) and the Champ looks slow getting on the front foot here, is HE the one running out of steam perhaps..is age finally starting to tell, is his time as champ beginning toi run out ?

JJ is out like a wounded tiger, and clatters the side of the Champs head, follows up with a hard body blow to the ribs and the Champ is winded by that..

he's backing away now as JJ probes with that left hand looking to unload with the right hook.
.
JJ isn't giving the Champ a Minute...
A constant barrage of body shots and blows see's the Champs grateful for the Bell at the end of Round 7.
I can't see all the scores yet, but one judge puts that 5.3 to the Challenger.

stay glued to your seats, we'll be right back after this Ad break..."

Sorry to hear about such awful cramps @JohnEGreen @Bubbsie

they are painful aren't they.

i've not found an alternative to just getting up and walking it off.
tried magnesium capsules .. they MAY have helped but still suffer some cramps most mornings/early hours.

Will give your remedy a chance next time @SaskiaKC though i'm not confident, it will work..it kind of twists the foot/muscles so much i doubt i could control it without a lot of weight (me ) on the muscles themselves..:bigtears:

It's kind of like when you ride a horse you let your weight drop down into your heel. (Of course I was doing it lying down before I got out of bed in the mornings! It stretched my calf muscles and the big muscle at the back of my thigh -- whatever that one is called). These days I have the opposite problem, the big muscle on top of my thigh gets cramp when I sit too long.

Morning All. 6.3 this morning after sleeping the sleep of the dead.
@Bubbsie and @JohnEGreen hope the cramps dont linger.
@Trick great score you deserved that cheese on toast!
@OrsonKartt lovely story...took me back. I still have their first shoes.
@alf_Josiah good review at the clinic..enjoy today
@SaskiaKC good going with the numbers.
@West335 hello and keep on track, you’ll be fine.
Have a good Thursday everyone. Stay well, stay safe.
Thanks very much

By George, I think you've got it! :D

@True Blue do Citroens still levitate?
Ha Ha. I have the last model from the 2015 range that does have that pneumatic magic at the top end, but mine is a middle spec. C5 Tourer with conventional suspension. However I can still see echoes of the wonderful DS19, DS21 and DS23 shape in mine, plus I have the swiveling headlamps that point where you steer (second set fixed straight ahead). Watch President De Gaulle at the start of "Day of The Jackal" for background.

The one I knew was a '69 4-door 4-speed, quietly grey on the outside, blazing scarlet within ...

Good car (not my own) but the good times were partly mine at the wheel. Including listening to this on a day trip to the lake:

I see we share the same expensive tastes re the quinoa ryvita. I have a couple a day with various toppings. Husband looks out for them on special offer. Don't seem to break and crumble like the others.

@jjraak you know what your auntie Pengie thinks of boxing..sigh...but if you must do it dear boy make sure you win. That opponent sounds like a nasty piece of work.

Look at THAT **** !
Rough translation reads: Word beginning with TW then the first vowel in the alphabet and ends with T ...
(rhymes with Cat. ). (other translations are possible ! )

I still have bread every day...sometimes Burgen or Tesco's high protein...Warburtons also make a whole wheat one which is roughly 11 carbs per slice...as you say try them then test...it's all about experimenting
