What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning all. Who’s stolen the sun? A 4.4 for me today. My predicted Hba1c has vanished off the MySugr app so I know I’ve reduced my testing to a minimum now. Feels a bit weird not seeing it there - like my comfort blankets been ripped away

5.0 this morning. I’ve got a lovely day ahead - a pre birthday treat with a friend, we are having a spa day: Champagne at hers to begin with and lunch at the spa, a facial at some point and a lot of lollopping around in the jacuzzi, sauna etc. They have a heated outdoor pool as well which sounds lovely.
Hope you all have a great day too.
Have a fantastic day DJC3 x

My Chevy Cavalier died after 15 years of good service and 3 years of struggling. One part after another gave out, first the AC, then the radiator, then the engine itself. I left it at the garage to be hauled off for parts. The photo is not of it, but of one of its twins. Even with an automatic transmission, that car was so much fun to drive. :(

I have had two Vauxhall Cavaliers. Both ended up scrapped but not due to age the first a saloon because I stopped at a roundabout but the Renault Espace following me didn't, right off.
The second a hatchback was stolen from outside my house in the middle of the night, when recovered by the police several weeks later it had been totaled by the thieves right off.

MIGHT have had something to with it .;)

As I see it, you only need 3 readings. Fbg EOD..and maybe a random one.. still it's 3 you won't really need, but it will give the HBA1c guess, ..:)

@DJC3 ...save a spot for me too...sound fantastic have a great day.:D

Aww, @Bubbsie ..sounds a slow course that flu is taking :bigtears:

Hello all. Busy day yesterday, so didn't get to post. Fasting blood sugars were 4.5 yesterday and 4.4 today.

Also gave my GP a call yesterday morning and asked to pick up my blood test results. Was so happy to see HbA1c in the 20s (actual result was 29) for the first time since low carbing. Also, liver test was fine, no change from the time when I only had one glass of wine a week. So, lots of reason to celebrate, which we did last night.

@DJC3, @PenguinMum, and @dogslife -- Thanks so very much for your kind words. Definitely felt like a pin cushion after that morning -- might half gone through close to half a container of test strips in half a day. In the evening, blood sugars had returned to stability.
@SB.25 -- Wow, what a huge drop in your HbA1c -- really well done.

Wonderful sunny day today and temperatures going up into the higher teens. Have a wonderful day, everyone.

Brilliant results, congratulations. Just shows what can be achieved.

Good morning all, 6.9 this morning as kind of expected....but still showing keto on stick so happy.

Been marking maths papers for an hour, but I have 2 wonderful year 11 boys getting ready for exams. One just got a B on a paper and one a mark off a B. What's amazing about that I hear you ask....they are in set 7 out of 8 (one started the year in set 8) and in September were on E and F and max poss score a D. I will be hailed a hero if they get C as there has never been a C from set 7...if they get Bs (do I dare hope???) I will be a superhero!!!

It's certainly put a smile on my face this dreary Saturday morning :)

Have a good one people!!

Good morning everyone on what looks to be a very pleasant Saturday.
The wheel of false security, danger and punishment has somehow been given a part in the latest Jigsaw movie.
After diving down below 3 during the night, I had a bright and sparkling 5 at 0600. Oh joy!
But now, after only two hours awake and one measly mug of tea - a Mount Everest of 7.9.
I would complain to my local MP but she is probably still in London at clown school with all the other village fools.
Have a great day if you can, clocks - something about clocks tomorrow but only if you are in the UK.
koffy - I need koffy.

Good morning all. Brilliant weather today, sunny and much, much warmer with 20 degrees expected for today.

@ianpspurs, @SaskiaKC, @PenguinMum, @DJC3, @Caeseji, @dunnelm -- Thank you so very much for your support. This meant a lot to me. Also, happy about all the winner and like ratings. This thread is such a wonderful, helpful and supportive place.

@Bubbsie -- Hope you feel better soon. Agree with the others, this sounds like the flu rather than just the common cold.
@DJC3 -- Enjoy your day. Your plans sound really wonderful.
@jjraak -- What a wonderful vacation. Really enjoying all the pics and the reports. Also wonderful levels after eating the local bread. Definitely shows that your body has done some healing in the last half year.

Fasting blood sugars were 4.6 today.

Have a wonderful Saturday, everyone.

@DJC3 have a great day - well deserved. @Emma_369 I really don't think you need predictions, your readings, diet and exercise levels are doing a great job. @Dawnmc71 that kind of story makes the rest of the job more bearable - or used to back in the day. My fbg was 5.7 - can't lie and say I don't suspect the 4 year honeymoon has ended. I will continue VLC for now but spreadsheet entries, MySugr, MyDario (unused Christmas present - just hoping my sons don't ask how I'm getting on with it) abandoned - It's the hope that kills. I will be very surprised if I arrive at June with something presentable. - this "feels" like a road not taken.

Amazing results wow

5.1 today. Lowest for ages! Happy as Larry whoever's he is.

I'm sharing this for info. I've learned something. As I do most days on here! Such a wonderful forum.

My recently diagnosed BIL seemed to be doing ok on metformin. Couldn't manage tablets but liquid metformin suited him. However over the past couple of weeks he has suffered severe cramps in his right leg. Dr told us to stop metformin. Cramps eased off over a few days. They wanted bloods doing, looking at possible lactic acidosis. The good news is his hba1c is down to 77 from 95 in 3 months which is great. It's mainly down to meds though. He cant give up bread, potatoes, rice or pasta and still has cereal in the morning but he has cut right back. And I'm making him more and more dinners now so low carb. Got a lot of work to do re his breakfast options!

Suspicions re lactic acidosis were correct. Lactate level up. 1.25 top end and he is 1.3 and only going in one direction on metformin. Plan of action is put him on sitaglyptin. Started yesterday. Fingers crossed all goes well.
