What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Thanks for the good wishes and sorry if I appear needy. I appreciate other people have problems I am not aware of or subject to. I was just genuinely wondering if anyone else had come across a similar situation.

Bless you, @ianpspurs you seem to be about one of the least needy people I know, online or off.

I have been getting blips, too, but I have thought that mine were due to my temporarily giving up LCHF and trying to eat for my LDL numbers, which seems to have my FBG numbers going up.

I think what we all need is for this eating and metering and exercising to make sense, and so often it just doesn't. For myself, all I have figured out -- I think -- so far is that I am addicted to carbs. Physically addicted. I wish ther was something like methadone for carb-addicts that would block the carb receptors in my brain.

I did have one weird brain-blip a little while ago -- when opening my freezer door to get some ice cubes, I saw the package of treats I bought the other day and I swear at first glance it said Low-Crab Frozen Treats. I guess that would be keto-friendly, but a pity because I am rather fond of seafood! ;)

I just want things to work the way they are supposed to not just LC eating anything really. I would be much more on board with LC for diabetes control if it was acceptable to say that it is like stock market investments - bit of a gamble. Works for some people and for others works some of the time and has the potential not to work at all.

Ian we are all different but what can we do but low carb and hope to find our level and hope for the best otherwise. You arent doing bad but you feel. it isnt good enough . If I can stay outside preD levels I am so happy.

4.9 greeted me on my birthday morning which was quite nice of it! Went up a little later in the day but I feel that was because I was stressing a bit but had a 4.2 last night before bed so I'm not too bothered as long as it's staying below 6.

Take care and enjoy your weekend's all!
Belated birthday wishes hope you have had a great day x

@DJC3 have a great day - well deserved. @Emma_369 I really don't think you need predictions, your readings, diet and exercise levels are doing a great job. @Dawnmc71 that kind of story makes the rest of the job more bearable - or used to back in the day. My fbg was 5.7 - can't lie and say I don't suspect the 4 year honeymoon has ended. I will continue VLC for now but spreadsheet entries, MySugr, MyDario (unused Christmas present - just hoping my sons don't ask how I'm getting on with it) abandoned - It's the hope that kills. I will be very surprised if I arrive at June with something presentable. - this "feels" like a road not taken.

Thanks Ian, it was a lovely day.
Are you going to stop testing again then, and just wait to see what your June result shows?

@ziggy_w thanks it really was a lovely relaxing day. Hope you had a good day in the sunshine too.
@PenguinMum thank you too. Our Camelia’s not out yet, but I love it when it appears. I’m always worried for poor magnolias though - they look so magnificent for about 2 mins and almost as soon as they bloom we get a heavy rainfall or frost and they’re ruined. They’ve lasted pretty well this year so far though.

7.6 not happy.

This is after cutting Metformin down to a single 500mg per day for three days now. Nausea is gone but numbers creeping up (at least fasting. Rest don’t look bad). Doctor thinks trying the Gliptin for a few weeks is good but i am hesitant. Can not make up mind. Maybe I will seek a second opinion from a endocrinologist..

Genuinely confused by readings over last 3 to 4 days. Increased focus on reducing carbs to keto levels and upping healthy fats while getting back to nearer longer term exercise levels. BG seems to be totally rejecting this and going into reverse. Will obviously change meter batteries and be quite fastidious around testing procedures BUT has anyone who has been at this a reasonable length of time experienced anything similar? I have had blips before but this is, or seems to be, entirely different. Just curious

Are you also counting your grams of protein ? Proteins Can raise blood glucose if one eat too many grams, exercise can also be higthened adrenaline/ cortisol make the speed the liver produces and releases glucose into the blood ..
by the way ketones can also be bought has anyone tried adding them initially ?
You need a little under 1 gram og protein Pro kg bodyweight and if body building maybe 2 grams Pro kg bodyweight

Morning all. Fine hazy dawn down here on the Coast, a bit cool. Yesterday mid. p.m. BG 7.3

Today FBG 8.8 mmo/lt. C'est la vie. Had six oatcakes last night with lovely selection of cheeses. Will swap over to the celery and spot the changes.

4.6 this morning.
Happy Mothering Sunday to all the UK mums here, hope you can spend the day with your family around you.
I’ll be spending most of it on my own as the daughter who lives at home is working a 12 hr shift, and husband the other 2 are 250 miles away. Never mind we will have a get together very soon.

6.2 this morning and I'm taking the day off from 'doing' and indulging in 'being', and remembering how precious a moment is :)

5.8 this morning - remarkably consistent. @Freema my App also tracks protein and that has been running around 2 gms per kg - not by design but just a by product of the foods I will eat by choice. I did wonder about that but the literature seems split over that. @DJC3 I will try to at least get some sort of normal before making a decision. Glad you had a good day.
