What do these BG figures mean?

I think it is because what you are saying is so unusual that none of us has heard anything like it before. The hba1c result given you by the A&E is odd in a couple of ways - first, A&E don't normally do the hba1c test (most often they might do a finger prick test by a nurse though), second, the result of your hba1c done in A&E is most definitely in the fully diabetic zone - so we can't imagine why anyone might suggest to you that you are pre-diabetic or why you should told to wait so long with high BG before seeing your GP. And this is why people think there may have been a misunderstanding and either you aren't diabetic at all, are just pre-diabetic or even possibly fully diabetic, all of which will influence the kind of advice we give you.

On top of your personal A&E mystery, this forum has seen more than normal number if unusual posts recently from people who aren't diabetic but seem to think they might be for reasons that only they understand.

We are not medics and can't diagnose but we can offer support to those who have a definite diagnosis and are naturally wirried. All we can suggest is that those people should speak to their GP and get a proper diagnosis - then we can help.

I was in A&E for atrial fibrillation, I am not sure why they did a HBA1C. I am really confused
When I was in the emergency dept with Afib, with a SPO2 of 180 HR / 35% O2, they took a shed load of blood out of me for various tests. I was re-confirmed as a T2 the following day in the medical unit I was in at the base hospital.

When I was discharged after seven days I was given list of heart medication to give my GP to prescribe me, as was the hba1c result.

105 mmol/mol I just cannot see they would not have put you on meds while you were in hospital, instead of telling your GP to prescribe for you.

Hi Charlie, I think u should do more bg tests on your own to confirm. How about a few fgl tests, a few post meal tests within a few days. Even a 75g glucose load test after fasting. That will give you very reliable data.
Hi

My pre meal is normally 4.4mmol - 5mmol.
My post meal 90 mins has been max 6.5mmol
3 hours later it has gone to 4.8mmol

Then rests at 4.4mmol

--

My fasting glucose tests have been coming to 4.4 - 4.8 mmol.

I don't know how to do the 75g glucose load test? What would I eat?

I agree, I am in no position to see my GP at the moment until mid to end of June - staying away from home. Then again, I follow a diabetic lifestyle now, LCHF, and it isn't doing me any harm! I have never been so healthy, energetic, and losing a good amount of weight!

I will speak to my Doctor after my next bloods...

Yes, this is what else I found strange. They gave me a beta blocker for the afib, and then that went away. But nothing was done about the supposed diabetes. I am so confused, but heres to say, I will continue living as a diabetic, its improving my health

Agreed, that is a high level for a diabetic, and completely inconsistent with the blood test results in the first post. (Though if @charlie000 has only recently started a low carb diet I suppose it is possible that the high result is due to the readings pre diet.)

My pre meal is normally 4.4mmol - 5mmol.

Those results are perfect non-diabetic. The low carb diet appears to be working perfectly for you.

I would guess that the hba1c result has either been misremembered or mixed up with someone else's.

Any reason you cannot phone the surgery and ask them to confirm the test done, the result and the units?

Tbh though your readings look far more like that of a prediabetic than someone whose hb1ac has very recently been as high as 105 so it looks like you are doing well.

I starteed LCHF in Feb, and then at the start of March, I became 100% on to it. I've also picked up a lot of heavy weight training.

LCHF has been working for me so good.

It is so scary that my results have been mixed up with someone else, if it has that is... Imagaine having a terminal condition of some kind and the result gets mixed up?

I guess the only way to resolve this is to get another HBA1C

I will do that as soon as I can.

Is it possible to reverse the condition, to the levels of my bg finger pricks? I saw an article on the mail on sunday where a man reversed it in 2 weeks.

But this is a life style change, I was morbidly obese, and still am Obese so either way the LCHF is what is working for me.

My glucose before gym was 4.8mmol today and after gym 4.4mmol....

Low carbing certainly won't do you any harm and your blood sugar levels are completely normal so as you say just carry on as you are. Like many I think the HbA1c of 105 must have been an anomaly of some sort unless you have made the fastest recovery ever recorded... in which case many congratulations!
If you can get yourself to the docs for a new HbA1c blood test it would be well worth it (if only to satisfy our collective curiosity).. In the meantime great numbers so keep on with what you are doing.

As has been suggested before, you can view all results online or have a print out of your results. Even a quick phone appointment with your GP can easily be arranged from anywhere - no matter that you are not at home.
Perhaps clarity of this issue might assuage the stress you are clearly feeling over your bg readings.

There are a few blood conditions (eg anaemia) which falsely elevate hba1c results, but if you had those your original hba1c at diagnosis would have been even higher.

They gave me a sample bag of the heart medication they put me on which included 4 x Digoxin 62.5µg / 1 x Xarelto 20mg / 2 x Bisoprolol 5mg / 1 x Rosuvastatin 10mg / 1 x Olmesartan 40mg to last me till I got the scripts they gave me to be dispensed by my pharmacy.

I did not need any medication at the time for the T2 while was in the base hospital.

I'm putting in a lot of hard work. No ones seen me like this before, my friend who I gym with is crazily amazed, because we've been gym before and hes never seen me have so much energy!

I will get a new blood hba1c in the end of June. I'd like to know what my progress has been since the so called 105 hba1c

To be honest, with the readings I have been getting, I'm not feeling as stressed, because along with these readings, and the fat loss occurring, is really encouraging me.

Fair enough.

I ask a lot about these readings because I'm not sure what they mean. The timings, I like to compare others results. I'm 5'8 and my weight at the moment is 89kg. When I left hospital, my weight was 98kg. But the weight has sort of stalled since I started heavy weight lifting.

If u are sure about those readings u hv mentioned, u hv perfect glucose metabolism.

For glucose load test, when u wake up after fasting, measure 75g pure glucose powder using a digital scale and dissolved in a glass of water. Take a reading before u drink the mixture. After u drank it, take a reading every half an hour till the three hours mark. The two hours reading needs to be below 7.8 to be normal.

Where do I get this glucose powder? And how many carbs is the 75g glucose? Is it 75g of sugar? If so that's a lot...

My goal is to become non-obese and then I'll see how my body improves. I am morbidly obese at the moment. So I don't think it's fair I start doing these tests but I will do it once I am normal bodied
