What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

@SaskiaKC hope your bathroom is sorted out today without any complications. I bet the KC doesnt like people in your apartment. When we have house viewings Daisy hides behind the sofa until I get back.

“Goodest foods” - is there a branch in my area?
Could well be - whole raft of dubious sounding foods consumed by members convinced they will make them immortal. My advice to you, good sir, is to open a Goodest foods franchise asap. If you build it they will come:angelic:

Late on parade again. Never mind, I was busy with important stuff like how to get into town and back without getting wet; I do love my waterproof trousers (the coat, boots and gloves are just dandy as well).
Anyhow, the wonder wheel of smirks and blind alleys decided upon the gift of 5.5 this morning - reminds me of the calibre of some makes of rifle. Oh, hang about, I’m confusing moles with other species of mammal, or something like that. Never been good at big sums apart from lang gazintas.

First of all congratulations to Spurs on reaching the champions league final what a result in Amsterdam last night fantastic

Unfortunately I was born with pancreas divisum which means my pancreas was split and in subsequent investigations in my 20s it was split almost into 2 pieces,

Take care
Ian
Thanks for the football congrats. Sorry to hear about the pancreatic issues and still in awe of your good humour and general rock solid attitude to life''s adversities

Head maintenance man (no pun intended!) is working on the toilet right now. The KittenCat knows him fairly well and right now she is here on the sofa with me but listening to all the clanks and thumps (and muttered imprecations) emanating from the bathroom.

@dunelm What are/what is lang gazintas? I Googled it and found something about math and something about regiments, which goes with calibres and rifles (calibrated for mole-hunting? !!! :( ) ...

I'm not good at any sums and have found a nice website that will translate my FBG numbers from US to UK. HbA1C and cholesterols are still beyond me!

lang gazintas is a geordie expression for long division ( long goes into's)

FBG 5.3
@SaskiaKC my brother's blood was so "thick" with sugar at the time of his dx of metabolic syndrome in his early 40's (and he was only a small bit overweight!!) that they could not get a lipids panel to give results. Next try it worked (BG brought down by diet and exercise) so he was put on a statin, which he hated. Some 10 years later he says, and I hope I remember this correctly, that he has single digit LDL numbers. Lower carbs, lower fat, and all vegetables are his friends but not all fats. Hope you can beat your numbers and go off the Lipitor!!

Wow Gennepher that little cat is adorable and looks so young. I never knew cats could live beyond 20 years. What is the secret?

The oldest cat I had before the current Popeye was another male cat I also called Popeye, who had died some few years before. And who looked identical to the current Popeye right down to the little black heart shaped nose. He had died when he was 14 years old, before this Popeye was born.

I have no idea what the secret is?
Love?

Thanks, @zauberflote . I wish I could see his diet sheet! :)

4.8 this morning. Still grey but a lot less wet. Dogs walked and now snoozing on the sofa. Busy day ahead work first and then looming like the sword of Damocles over my head is a visit to the dentist (I hate going to the dentist) It us only a check up but I still get very stressed at the thought of it never mind the reality.
@zauberflote you are entitled to bask in your 4.6 well done you!

Ugh so awful to have a dreaded appointment *after* your workday is done. I'm sorry that you don't like them...dentistry in US has undergone a massive overhaul in the last few decades, and most dentists are no longer your terrifying 4th grade teacher, but rather the gal next door.
My dentist ... sit down and swallow your beverage now!....shot himself in the hand one late Saturday night at the office! He'd brought his handgun with him bc there'd been reports of armed burglaries in that ordinarily very safe neighborhood, and of course a dental practise has loads of yummy drugs stashed away. Long story short, after hearing what he thought was gunfire and going outside (without his phone...) to investigate, he accidentally discharged the weapon at his hand, blowing a hole through the palm. This is actually so very like him that you are entitled to a belly laugh at this point. He's recovered most of the hand function he had before, but he was the affectionate laughingstock of all the other dentists, techs, and hygienists (and many patients too) for months as he showed up to work with giant bandages on.

Hmm, dentists and guns. Very apposite in UK as they have become like R Turpin Esq

And yet ... still no gun control ... why, even a DENTIST can just walk in and buy a gun!!!! :D

Here too. And even Medicare does not cover dental care. I remember 20-ish years ago an English friend of mine complaining that all dentists near him had gone private. He said his wallet hurt even more than his teeth.

@Krystyna23040 protein at night does the exact same thing to me. I'm trying olives but sometimes I really want that dairy smoothness. Also if I eat lots of protein in general numbers seem to be higher. I am still working on this what to eat thing.
@HarrisonK based on your wife's location, I'm guessing you might be one of "AL y'all", not halfway between London and Liverpool? Happy bday to her!
@ianpspurs I wouldn't say "epic". I certainly do share with you your frustration, though. Did I read somewhere that statins raise BG? Or is that another drug. But we all know what stress does, and I'd say you've been under a boatload of ambient and acute stress for however long it is you and Julie have been working on the move. Not to mention your caregiving role. Not to mention empathizing with chickens who lay quarter-pounder eggs!!!!! Oh wait. That would be Julie's empathy I'm sensing...
@SaskiaKC what a treat, that sunrise!
@dunelm lololol. Also, what can I name your flax crackers, as "Crispie Dunnies" turned out to be a very poor choice! And Gazintas!!!!! I thought that was my father's exclusive term that he made up! You are the first time I've ever seen/heard it used by anyone but my family. I can see him laughing now, thanks for the warm memory! (I'm good at lang gazintas too so long as I have a pencil if more than 2 digits in divisor...)

Thanks, @zauberflote . I wish I could see his diet sheet! :)

SALAD SALAD SALAD, Chicken, fish, occasional deli meats, butcher's sausage, Ezekiel bread when available, any veggie he wants, nuts, no desserts except when out with Mom, whatever he can find suitable at his airport layovers, the occasional Kind bar, less mayo on sandwiches. That's not complete by any means. He lives 600 miles from me lol.
