What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

They went up. I wasn't a butter or cheese or cream eater before. There are mentions in other threads about this but hanged if I know where. Maybe do a search?

Thank you, @zauberflote . I think mine went up too; at any rate, last January my LDL was high after several months of eating LCHF. It was still high in April after 3 months of LF higher carbs, though; so my doctor put me on Lipitor.

View attachment 32808 Goodnight from me and goodnight from cat...

What a lovely face. :) I have not seen a kitty before who has a black nose on a white muzzle. Very pretty kitty!

This seems to be a day for plumbing problems. I went into my bathroom a couple of hours ago to splash into water all over the floor. I finally figured out that there was a drip from the bottom of the tank. I called the front desk and the security guard did come up quite quickly, only to tell me that it was not an "emergency" since the toilet was only dripping all over the floor, not pouring.

He did find a couple of other leaks, from apparently worn-out washers in the bottom of the tank. So we put a big pan under one leak and a towel under the other, and emptied the tank so that it won't drip anymore. I just went in to check, and the pan is dry. So I have bucket in the bathtub for flushing the toilet overnight. The guard just made an announcement that there was a problem with the hot water, which will be shut off 'til further notice. Hopefully he will get the maintenance men out to fix that and they will fix my toilet while they are here.

This is nothing as bad as what you have been dealing with -- a minor irritation/inconvenience by comparison -- but I don't usually believe in coincidence so I'm wondering which butterfly fluttered its wings on which side of the world.

Hello, I'm still about but have been dormant for a while. A lot going on in my life right now - some good, some challenging but all very time consuming. Sorry all..I even missed the whole Mod election - thanks to whoever nominated me but I would have said no.
Liking the new thread and I will be back to more normal levels of activity soon.

Welcome back! It is good to see you again.

I didn't even know there was a Mod election! :D

Take care.

I would be interested in hearing how LCHF diets affect people's cholesterol numbers. If anyone wants to post ...
As @zauberflote says, it's been discussed in other threads, seems cholesterol leaks out, therefore, raised levels for a while, then it begins to lower and settle.

Think it need to be monitored as I can't recall at what level it settles, as I then got into the whole 'RATIO'S" of the HDL, LDL & TRYGLICERIDES, which ARE the important part ..(cholesterol being vital to us, if we didn't have it inside us, our bodies would make some.) Was my take from what I have read.

Would normally look for link, but just a moment's broken sleep,

EDIT Ignore.

Just had to pass my excitement around. Rejoice with me! I just tested at 4.6!! After ballet class and a piece of my brown bread soaked in olive oil. I may not see that number again so I am reveling in it. I think I'm finding my "goodest foods".

I love his little heart shaped nose. He is 26 years old, and will be 27 years old at the end of May. He is very agile and mobile for his age. He was the only surviving kitten of my all black cat Amethyst (Ammy for short), the other kitten died at birth, it looked so perfect and I still remember holding it, and stroking it, even after all these years. I’ve always thought Popeye somehow took on the additional 9 lives of his sibling.

Hopefully your problem with water will get sorted quickly. Anything with water is fraught.

Naughty butterfly spreading those water ripples!!!!

Morning...up early couldn't sleep with the excitement...Tottenham are through & Archie Harrison who would have guessed?...coffee & breakfast done I'm determined to do more than I did yesterday which won't be difficult since that was sweet FA...woke to a 6.3

4.8 this morning. Still grey but a lot less wet. Dogs walked and now snoozing on the sofa. Busy day ahead work first and then looming like the sword of Damocles over my head is a visit to the dentist (I hate going to the dentist) It us only a check up but I still get very stressed at the thought of it never mind the reality.
@zauberflote you are entitled to bask in your 4.6 well done you!

Yes we did...absolutely soaked.
Thank goodness a much better day today. We are off to the vet early this morning to get tick treatment and w.....g tablets (haven't written this out in full as people may be eating breakfast).

6.3 this morning. I know why it is so high. Was really starving when I got home from work at 9pm last night and had 30g cheddar cheese so I knew it would be high. Cheese never raises BS in the day but if I eat it at night it always raises bs.

Work and life still too hectic. Am only half way through Monday's newspaper. The 'i' is very concise so things are really hectic when I don't have time to read it. Still - as I work for myself it is totally my fault for booking in too.much work.

6.1 again this morning which is nice considering my trip out and pub meal yesterday. I was so chilled out I didn't really mind being soaked through ;) Today's my wife's birthday, she's in Washington DC so it will be Facetime later in the day. As it is still raining I have declared today a Chillaxin Day :)

Hi @SaskiaKC I have been doing this now for almost 4 years. Below are my December 18 lipid stats which are about usual for me -not sure it helps as I am happy to take statins. All the refusers I know of didn't make 80 and had heart problems for years unlike my dad who took them.

Serum cholesterol level 4.1 mmol/L
Serum triglyceride levels 0.76 mmol/L [0.3 - 1.8] brackets are uk guidelines
Serum HDL cholesterol level 1.86 mmol/L
Serum LDL cholesterol level 1.89 mmol/L
Serum cholesterol/HDL ratio 2.2
Serum non high density lipoprotein cholesterol level 2.24 mmol/L

good morning all :)

4.8 this morning

It rained all day yesterday so I didn't get to finish my bush trimming or get much of a walk but at least I'll get plenty of exercise today since we're out volunteering today ;)

At least the sun is out at the moment here though it's still chilly. Mum's little dog Suzie was hoping for a walk yesterday but took one look at the lashing down rain and decided 'nope' :hilarious:

@Krystyna23040 Suzie is currently modelling her 2019 tick collar too ;) her favourite walk is down one of the farm roads nearby plus there are almost always some sheep in the field behind mum's garden.

@SaskiaKC I've been doing L(ish)CHF for over 2 and a half years now and my lipid profile improved from having 'high' trig and 'low' HDL cholesterol at diagnosis and most recent test (End of Feb) showed total cholesterol 4.3, trig 0.5 and HDL 1.3, ratio 3 :)

Hope your day treats you well :)
