What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Do you like Miss Read's novels? In one she wrote about a change in seasons where I guess the weather kept changing its mind. And her cat Tibby sat down to "do his laundry" and Miss Read said she envied him -- "Just one rig-out for summer and winter, and it's always in style!" :)
I may have read those books many years ago and defo dont remember the quoted but I can only agree with the sentiment.

I have a real soft spot for cats with odd facial colouring...they are really special and I am sure their mothers thought so. My Daisy has black fur around one eye which looks like a patch, Bless her.

So do I (love cats with odd markings, that is -- I don't have a patch of black fur around one eye.) That is one thing I love about tortoiseshells and calicos. The KittenCat is mostly black and white with a few ginger patches. She has a large ginger-striped patch on one haunch, and a small ginger patch above one eye so that sometimes she appears to be sleeping with one eye open!

5.7 @ 4:00 AM before DP kicked in... 6.2 by 6:30 before breakfast.... 6.9 last night...

Not unhappy... Am still unable to sleep soundly in early hours... which is causing early morning increases... i think some light exercise before bedtime or a hot shower? Or meditation ‍♀️.... Got to figure it out soon

6.2. Yesterday had too much Mother's Day chocolate too late in day, and too much food period. Sigh.
@alf_Josiah forgot to congratulate you on both milestones!!!
@SaskiaKC does it have to do with binomial probability distribution? Otoh, only in movies do they say "over and out", which as I understand it is incorrect. So a movie?
@DJC3 our black cat used to do that too... always worried me her brains would fry.

good afternoon all :)

was 5.0 this morning

here we go up and down again :sorry: a couple of nights of poor sleep and some anxiety seems to result in slightly higher bg. We have been outside in our 'garden' to get some bush trimmings shifted and chopped up ready to go to the dump for the council's recycling ( they compact then chop and mulch to make compost I think).

We got most of mum's grass cut yesterday so it's been a couple of days making good use of the dry weather. Next job is two pairs of trousers to shorten for mr. gee because we have to go to a funeral probably later this week.

Hope your day is treating you well :)
Still a great reading. Sorry to hear about the funeral.

@ianpspurs I hear what you say. Lchf doesnt suit everyone. It certainly suits me and so many other diabetics which is probably why we constantly sing its praises.

When I was diagnosed 18 months ago I googled 'reversing diabetes '. It pointed quite clearly to a lchf way of eating being the solution for so many. I thought to myself 'I'm going to give it a whirl '. Low and behold my hba1c started to go down. From 62 to 47 in 2 months. Then on my next 6 monthly it was 39. Maintaining now and confirmed as officially in remission. All symptoms disappeared within days of starting lchf more importantly. IBS, blurry vision, dry mouth, heartburn, yeast infections (not had one since).

My meter tells me that my body doesnt deal with carbs well at all. Mysugr app confirms the only way my hba1c is going is up if i went back to this way of eating. And my symptoms would no doubt return.

I felt ecstatic to have found a solution. I'm the kind of person.who shares ANYTHING I think might benefit others. Always been the same. Also I always stand up for justice. I was the coordinator for Blackpool central in the last census. I put in £3000 of extra hours due to the challenges in my area. I had an amazing team but not enough hours in the day to deal with everything. Over a 4 month period I got very little sleep. 4 hours a night if lucky. They weren't going to pay me. I took it fwd. Wrote a 6 page a4 complaint letter. Took it to the top. Received what I was due! Copied letter to colleagues. They sent similar. BINGO. Asked about holiday pay to go with it. Ended up in the small claims court. 8 of us from whole country. We won. Just one example of how I tick.

Re the advice given to diabetics about how to deal with the condition. It's a disgrace. I cant see how 'eat everything just cut down on sugar' could possibly help any diabetic. I am very vocal about this. I certainly dont ram lchf down peoples throats (or hope i dont) i just sing its praises as I'm so happy to have found a workable, simple solution and want to spread the word. It works for me and so many others. Dcuk is just one site of many that reflects this.

That said I realise it's not the solution for everyone, I appreciate that too. I see many of your posts and feel your frustration. When you see lchf working for so many but not for you. Just goes to show how complex a condition it is and how it effects everyone differently. Do you think keto might work better for you or have you tried that?

Tonight I'm wondering if it has anything to do with cricket bats. A bat maker said something about the weight of one cricketer's bat as something like "two eight and a half" written I think 2.85, so I'm wondering if "six two and even" is the weight of something. Maybe Paul Bunyan's axe?

I heard it in the old **** Tracy cartoon series on TV, taken from the comic strip.

The only movie I think I remember saying anything like "over and out" is Where Eagles Dare, and I think they keep saying "Over" until the last transmission when they say just "Out." But I haven't seen that movie in awhile.

LOL -- the website asterisked-out Tracy's first name!

More evidence that computers are artificial but not really "intelligence." Tracy's first name starts with a D and rhymes with Rick.

Absolutely stunning!

Me too. I had a cat whom I called Skippy (after the kangaroo). As a tiny kitten, she was the only one of the litter who could leap up vertically and get out of a high sided cardboard box. She had these kind of markings.

Woke up at 6am
fbg 9.6

I would like that in the 8's but I am happy with that.

Just spent an hour trying to get my mobile WiFi to work....and then this app tells me I am not permitted to respond to comments....grrr...so signed out and signed back in again. All is well now...

Black coffee and chocolate....

Going to get my third black coffee...I nearly started on the sherry with these connection problems, but it is too early in the day...

6.2 this morning and day 7 without metformin. Not sure if its starting to come back down or just because I took it at 6:00 which is earlier than the the last couple of days. Will carry on for another week or so before deciding properly.
@SaskiaKC the asterisks for Mr Tracey’s forename did make me laugh too.

I was attempting to write on here the other day about the the birds in my garden. There are some small birds where the name begins blue but when I posted it the bit after blue was asterisked out, so I went in to edit the post, then I realised it was censorship. Well, I had better not talk about the pea something butterfly fluttering in my garden....
